that depends. If your getting a polycarb (plastic) or a fiber one. Cause platic is one layer, it flexes so far then cracks, and once its cracked it it hits again, all thats in the way of your dome and the other surface is pretty much styrafoam.

A fiber based one, you have thousands of little hairds, it flexes so much and begins to crack as well, but not all the strands will crack. Its more like breaking a tree branch, it has to be bent more than once to crack completly.

Ive had a plastic one crack halfway off my head before, either kind of helmet would of saved my head as the plastic one did, but if something else had hit me after the crackage, id be done.

The sharks are pretty sick. I was looking at them over the weekend at the stealership. Hella expensive though. Pretty light weight. Didn't try it on, but all the ones i saw looked like that rubertone ****. I hate that stuff

Re: Shoei or Arai

Yeah alot of people bitch about the cost of helmets but the bottom line is that it saves your life so i think that spending 4-600 on a helmet that fits right and is comfortable is really not that bad.

Re: Shoei or Arai

I've been trying **** on and do like the Scorpion and the Sharks. I love my Arai but not sure if I want to spend that big dollar again. I agree with the theroy of do you put a price on your head but when you take the test results from a Scorpion those really kick ***! As far as the cheaper lids go I dont mind the top end KBC's. Is it true that the Shark starts to come apart when you hit?

Re: Shoei or Arai

for me srai is the ****, i want to try on a shoei, but i have a big head and local dealer dont carry em. i dont think kbc is bad for the money. i had a vr 2 that held up fairly well in a bad lowside corner wreck but i did get a little concusion so after that i didnt spare on my new helmet, i tried icon and hated them. every one i tried on hurt my head and felt heavy as ****, which is a shame. if i were to pick one for looks it would have to be suomy or shark they look sick but i havent even tried one on. also, a buddy of mine hs a different model arai in the same size and i hate his but if it were bigger it might be fine.

Re: Shoei or Arai

Couple of my mates have got the XR1000 Shoei, which according to them, is the best thing ever... I personally have a Shark RSF2i, which I like quite a lot...
