I am guessing shipping would be about 60 bucks without the front wheel and 100 with the wheel in a separate package. Make me an offer on the front end.

but with some 15 wt fork oil the stocker will work good too and if you just add a little extra oil to the stockers they will be less spungy [air compresses oil doesn't]
Fork oils compress a little, its designed to. Some older Hondas use ATF, and should not have regular 5w, 10w, or 15w fork oil because it relies on the ATF and its non compressing design.

Water doesn't compress, but oils definately do.

Re: Best forks for F4I?

929/954 are probably your best bet. But I've seen 636 forks on a F4i that looked boss.

Re: Best forks for F4I?

swapped my 954 front end with 1.1 fork springs and heavier oil onto my F4i last night and rode today.......immediately notice the front end is heavier...stoppies and whelies feel a lil different. Front end feels wider for sure, and the brakes are alot more powerful, which is what I'm used to.

I like the 954 front end alot better for sure! But I weigh 245 right now, and was up to 260, so the f4i forks bent/flexxed ALOT when I was rolling an endo. You gotta remember these bikes were made for a 140lb Asian guy, I'm adding 100 lbs, so a stronger front end may be more necessary for me than for you.

Definate improvement for me though. I had vortex clipons flipped on my F4i front end, and have vortex clipons flipped on my 954 front end....only difference is that the triples are wider and as said before, ur turning radius widens noticeably, but doesn't seem to hinder me much. With my ohlins dampers, springs, oil, straight rotors, race takeoff, radial master, braided lines......endoes should really be fun on this thing!

I also have a complete F4i front end now with no bike for it.....but has stock clipons now, my buddy is getting the vortex clip-ons I think. Woul consider selling if someone needed it, but not in a hurry to get rid of em.

Cool. Thanks for the reflection on your experience. I wiegh about 235, so I'ld be in the same boat. I like the idea of no flex. We'll see if I get the bike.....

Now i tried the 954 fork with thicker oil and i must say that it is very good, in the beginning i had some problems to get used to the increased brake power.
But i must say that i don't do much further stoppies than with the original fork. But i am no specialist in endo's, i do like 100 m and 200° turns.
The only bad thing on changing forks is the more limited steering and that is not so good for burn-outs.

Re: Best forks for F4I?

i heard running a radail brake setup is the way to go. im in the same boat, 205 lbs coming off a gsxr 600 with a 750 front end to a stock f4i, there is some considerable difference in the two. i was rolling descent 100 footers to now bearly 30 foot. but i believe when i make the swap i going to run either the 1000rr forks or 1000rr triple with 05 gsxr forks.

Re: Best forks for F4I?

If you cant even roll 2-300ft on a stock front end then your not gonna suddenly be able to roll 5-600 ft from swaping to inverted forks. It's just NOT gonna happen.

Now maybe if your already up in the 4, 5 or 600ft ballpark, then the upgrade might give you some considerable distance. But if you suck... your still gonna suck regardless.

i see soooooo many people doin this upgrade for NOTHING when they can't even roll 100ft for christ's sakes!!!

Unless your "advanced".... don't waste your money.

+1

Everyone with an f4i thinks the only reason they arent rolling with the big dogs is because they are on stock f4i's, it can be done

Re: Best forks for F4I?

hahaha. i know so many guys here in oz with f4i's that cant roll stoppies to save there life. but they go and put inverted forks on there bikes anyway coz thats supposed to be the thing to do. i have been talking with a friend bout this of late and we both agree that in theory, the bike from factory with a few mods to the comp, rebound, springs e.t.c, it shouldnt make too much of a differance with stock front end or not? once at BP your only touching that brake on and off very lightly yes? so what would radial brakes and different masters do for this? i cant see it being a massive disadvantage having stock calipers and master. body language and tecnique play a big part in rolling big stoppies. just thinking out loud. my 2cents.

Re: Best forks for F4I?

i feel the hate! haha
i suck at endos...but i had a hard time roling w/the stock front end(150-200')way less than my '05 gsxr 750.
the first 2 endos on my 929 front i was close to 300'...for me, it makes a diffrenence.
oh yah im 215...the stock "pogo" was in full affect for me. didnt change the springs but was running 10w oil.
i think what ever works. if your a pimp on the stock f4i front than its all good.
if you kill it with anything its all good...just ride, have fun.
peace
