Yes, the discs. If you already uploaded them, you should be good. If not, they sell editing software called Dazzle that uses the cord that probably came w/ your camera that has the headphone looking jack at one end and the three RCA jacks on the other. Basically, the Dazzle unit converts the RCA jacks to a USB plug. I'm fairly dumb when it comes to this ****, so that's all I know. Good luck!

Re: help downloading footage..

I dont know if it is the best way, but I bought a firewire and fireware card for my comp. It is an IE994 cable or some ****. You can get it at Best Buy or Radio Shack. Once you have the card installed in your comp, you just hook the cable up to your camera and then plug into the card on your comp and use Windows Movie Maker or something like it. Total cost was around $100.

Re: help downloading footage..

Okay first off, its not "upload" and "download" stuff onto your computer. Those terms generally refer to web-based actions like when you "download" pirated music. When putting software and video onto your computer, its called "installing software" and "capturing video."

Also, get a real program for editing like Avid or Premiere (I assume your on Win?) If you were on a Mac, I'd highly recommend Final Cut Pro. Then again, it seems like you're introducing yourself to video editing and production, so you might want to first do a ton of research on video formats, codecs, the basics of editing, and general cinematography.

Put your first real vid together in Win Movie Maker (or iMovie), and if you have any more questions, I'll be glad to help.

Re: help downloading footage..

Oh, and when you are actually capturing the video, most apps will be playing back a low-framrate version of the footage as its being captured.
