900RR Help????

So i'm about to pick up a '98 900rr for a thousand bucks. The person supposedly recked it into a curb and fence so the forks are toast for sure the rest I won't know till I see it today. My question is what other front ends can be put on this bike? 929, 954, 1000rr? Any help would be great.

I know Fish from Canada has owned a bunch of 900rr so any advice from you 900 gurus would be greatly appreceiated.

Re: 900RR Help????

Sorry I meant the whole front end, upper lower triple, forks, wheel, brakes, caliper, basically the whole swap. Just wondered about head bearings and triples fitting.

Re: 900RR Help????

Thanks Bill, you seem to come thru most of the time on questions. Did you have to fab anything or just straight bolt on?

Re: 900RR Help????

I believe with the right combinations of top and bottom bearings/bushings you can retro fit any honda front end for sure. Let me say this:
I measured my 95 900 and my 06 gix six, and the necks are the same size...the stops wouldn't line up, but I think with the wheel and everything it can be done with any front end pretty much.

someone please correct me if I'm wrong....

Re: 900RR Help????

929/954 is the way to go, especially if you want to run clipons on top of the triple

Thats what i was getting at, the 1000rr front end has less travel so when you lower the the front end to fit the clipons above the triple your **** will bottom out on the radiator when you slam down. BUT when i had te 954/929 front end my wheel still did hit my radiator on high speed endos from the fork flex and compression...
