Will riveting it in work or should you drill and tap? Whats the best metal to use...aluminum or steel? How long should it be? does it need to cover the entire bottom of the sprocket? Why has no one made these and marketed them yet? They look simple to make!!
They are made and marketed. They're called Shark Fins like the title of the thread says. They cost like $30 or $40.

I got one - drilled and tapped it into the swingarm. Only thing that I've seen though is when you drop the bike it ***** up the holes you tapped and after a couple of crashes you have to retap it bigger. Does that happen with yours OMR?

Re: Shark fins get one ........!

i'd make that one a soild piece without the holes, yeah u save few onces but u never know how extremely random a finger can slip through one. if u bolt it up under the swingarm in the middle of the width of it hows it gonna hit the ground wen u drop the bike?

i found a carbon fiber one for an r6, maybe that would help it would just break instead of rippin your holes on

but then it would start to get pricey

Re: Shark fins get one ........!

I'm not that mechanical of a person or good with ideas but I'm sure there's a way to secure it to the swingarm better than just drilling holes and tapping it. One good thing is I'm not pancaking my bike 10x a day like I was a month or so ago but I'll get right back there shortly I'm sure.
