everyone knows crashing sucks...
everyone know crashing sucks and human error is usally to blame, but it is just that much worse when it is mechanical failer. anyone see that pic of the fork breaking in half when that 636 was rolling in endo. that along with animals and idiots running out in front of you on the streets maintanace checks on your bike and being ready for anything helps, but may only get you so far. Just curious if any one has a story of crashing do to some thing breaking or some thing that was not your fault???

Re: everyone knows crashing sucks...
Well all my crashes were my fault, live and learn right? Hahaha But I have seen a peg break once on my buddies bike mid wheelie. Pretty nasty for him... Funny part is he fell off the back but the bike's front wheel came down straight and landed then after about 30 yards tipped and landed on the right frame slider. All the bike ended up needing was some paint and a new frame slider. TRUE STORY! My friend, 2 broken ankles and broken throttle wrist. Good news is he is back riding but this time he had my uncle weld the pegs in place.

Re: everyone knows crashing sucks...
one of my buddies went down one time right after he streetfightered his 954 and ziptied his wiring harness on the side of the bike plus the tip over sensor......was riding a standup doing around 50ish and pulled it far into BP and the tip over sensor went off and flipped him over the bike and put him in the hospital for a few days and broke his ankle

i was riding my 929 in the rain and i looked back to my chain cuz it was loose and making tons of noise, in the meantime my foot slipped off the footpeg and i face planted straight into the ground at around 50mph, bike went straight into a tree and flipped 5 times. ha ha

Re: everyone knows crashing sucks...
Mechanical failures and uncontrollable environment conditions seem to cause a substantial number of crashes, a lot of which are pretty bad in there outcome. Not to stray from the thread's main topic, but what are things we all can do to lessen the mechanical failures on our bikes?
Tricks like moving the ignition, safety wiring grips, drilling the killswitch are little things that sometimes are learned at a hefty price.
What are the little tricks of the trade to keep our bikes in the safest working order possible?

I busted my *** last year cause my oil drain plug came out while i was rippin around the lot. but in the end it was my fault for not remembering to tighten it properly.
ive also gone over the front before because i ran out of gas, not never too bad. just enough to scare me more then break me.
