F4i fork setups

I went through the thread that Gorka started about the reasoning behind behind people switching to 929/954 forks and i decided to just rebuild my stock forks. What kind of setup have you guys went with (spring rate/oil weight) and what do you guys think about it?

Re: F4i fork setups

i got 400 on stock forks with 15w oil.i can go further just dont have any spots to roll. if you are a small guy, the f4i forks will do just fine for learning to really roll endo's!!

Re: F4i fork setups

i can get about 200ft right now from about 60-65mph. But my forks sag really bad right now and they feel super mushy when i start a stoppie...i figured it wouldnt hurt to try and beef them up a little bit.

Re: F4i fork setups

just start by doing some maintenance on your bike's front end! change the oil with the lil bit thicker stuff, make sure the seals are ok, mess with the settings a bit. that 'll make a HUGE difference!

You can upgrade to 929 calipers and 929 master.

Re: F4i fork setups

Def change your oil even if its stock 7w it will feel better than old oil.
I changed my oil to 15w and that helped ALOT! I weigh 195 and the stock front is too soft plus it has progressive springs wich really suck. Mine was really bad about not getting traction before.

Next thing for me is 1.00 springs. Then maybe play with oil weight again.

Re: F4i fork setups

if you change to 15 wt oil and play a round with the air chamber [by adding a little extra oil] you probably won't need new springs but springs are pretty cheap....

adding a little extra oil has the same affect as changing your springs to a heavier spring because air compresses and the smaller the air chamber in the forks the stiffer your springs feel.....

Re: F4i fork setups

just read through about 10 more pages in that Gorka thread and definately have a better understanding now...think im gonna try to go with the Race Tech 1.0 springs and 15w oil.

And im gonna try to drop my forks down about an 1/8th inch tonight and see how that feels.

Re: F4i fork setups

The main problem with F4i springs is that they are progressive so you still have a problem with the first few inches of travel being too soft when you change fluid weight and not very consistant feeling no matter what you do.

I just bought the 1.00's I'll let yall know how they turn out.

if you have a twelve bar you don't even need to take off the forks....
