Putting an end to the controversy

Oil pick up... do you run one or not & why?

and if you have had good/bad experience please share.

I dont wanna hear what happen to your girlfriends brothers cousins roomate's bike because he didnt have one. Just you. I wanna know how many people are getting away without runnin an oil pick up. I understand it depends on what kinda riding your doing, and how you take care of your bike.

I figuerd if everyone votes it stop the ongoing controversy.

I run a half quart heavy on my gixxer 750 for almost 2 years... the bike that everyone on here claims will explode if you dont have a stuntex pickup.

Re: Putting an end to the controversy

it keeps the pick up in the oil it won't blow your motor....

i was a service writer at the local stealership for about a year and so many gsxr's came in with smoked cranks do to lack of oil that i couldn't count them all ....high rmp wheelies near or at balance point will destroy a gsxr motor ....

now i will admit the new design where the motor is more forward may not have the same problem but all the older style gsxr's will benifit from an after market pick up...

and lets face it not every one rolls stoppies for as long as jason britton so if the oil light comes on for him in a stoppie doesn't mean it will for all and if your gonna lose oil presure for a few seconds when would you rather lose it during a high rpm long wheelie or a few seconds during a stoppie when your motor is at idle...

Re: Putting an end to the controversy

i can roll about a 500 foot stoppie and it only last about 5 or 6 seconds my average street wheelie last a whole hell of alot longer then that....

Re: Putting an end to the controversy

I blew '94 900rr liek 2-3 months ago (aldo I kept it half to quart over)...now '98 is in, which I hear are way better, and I also keep little less than quart over...do you think it is safe for 919 engine like this? I heard it is, but I don't want to blow another one...

What controversy? I have never heard anyone complain that they bought an oil pick up and wish they didn't. But countless times retards bitch about how they popped their motor and wish they had a pick up. it's cheap insurance so get one or at least don't complain when you need a new motor.

What the hell are you talking about? I don't see people here blaming a pickup on a motor blowing. If you were mechanically inclined and understand how a motor works you would understand why a pickup is a good idea - much better than over filling your oil capacity too.

Re: Putting an end to the controversy

i am running one in my 05 gsxr,,,, have you looked at the stock one, its like 7 inches long, from the center of the motor and runs all the way to the front, and i realy mean the front,,,, if you stunt a 04/05 you realy need one,,, my lite never comes on now, its smother, sounds better,, it easy to put on after you get all the crap off your bike,, did mine in a hour,,, trust me it is worth the time and the money

Re: Putting an end to the controversy

I'm considering a stuntex for my F4i. I'm torn though. I've heard stories both good and bad. I run Royal Purple, a quart over right now.

Re: Putting an end to the controversy

plan and sample if u dont maintain your motor it will blow... if u over heat your motor alot that will also blow a motor... i have been stunting for 5 years and have NEVER blown a motor yet...... JUST CHANGE YOUR OIL AND MAKE SURE U FILL THE ANTIFREEZ.... i will never stunt anything other then a HONDA.... they just hold up from any abuse......
