how do you do a long stoppie? i can only do them from like 20-25 mph and cram the brake and come to stop. do you need certain brakes or what should your suspension setup be? any help is appreciated

Re: stoppies
what your doin is called a poppa stoppie. stab the brake and throw all your weight forward, once you get it up let off the front brake a little and just try to maintain. its more of a feel thing than anything else also look forward instead of at the ground. if you look forward you can, a. see where you are goin, b. you can tell how high you really are, c. you look better. and if you feel like your gonna flip over let off the brake and throw your weight back. push it a little bit passed where you feel comfortable and you will learn. good luck and don't crush your skull with the tail of your bike.

Re: stoppies
Theres no need to do anything to your suspension until your rollin at least 100'. Just go a little faster maybe 40 or so and slowly apply the brake (so you you dont skid as easily) until your back tire is off the ground and just try to see how far you can roll before your tire hits the ground. Theres no need to try to get close to the balance point when your first learning. over time youll be able to pop up faster, get steeper, and roll farther.

Re: stoppies
they are a bitch, but thats why they are so gangster. time in the saddle and some cohones are all it takes. you need to be at balance point to roll far and only be on the brakes about 10%. what you're doing is the opposite of chasing a wheelie. you are destroying all of your momentum because its not high enough.

Re: stoppies
Its all about speed and getting the rear up asap. Start out at 35-45mph. Once you hit target speed pull the clutch and grab some break the rear will come up then just ease the break and roll. Do this over and over soon you will go further and further. If your rocking a 954 your already ahead of the stoppie game its a great bike for that trick. Dont worry about a bp you dont wanna get there, because if you do youll endup with concrete in your teeth. It really has to do with speed and momentum to carry you on your way. Remember try to get that rear up faster so the momentum you have left will push you on.
If i were you start at like 10-20 and just start practicing popping that rear tire up a bunch of times until you get a comfortable felling for height. After that when your at 45 you will feel the heighth and be able to roll.
Oh and i really dont know if this matters but i run 22-25 in my fron tire
BTW, WEAR YOUR GEAR!!!

Re: stoppies
ive bin doin the same ****....i'm pretty high but rollin em for only about 5-10 feet.
i juts came back from practice...
after practicing some endos for like 15 mins straight, we pulled over and my rotors were SMOKIN HOT! so hot i thought my rotors were melting (4real)
it cooled down real fast.
but my question is...
should i take a brake to let it cool down or can i keep going? and is it supposed to get this hot when i do endos?
p.s. sorry to steal ur thread.

Best way to learn: Practice...
I took a whole summer and did nothing but endos and I'm still learnin' It took me about a month before I could roll them out at any distance.
Make sure you have a rock solid steering stabilizer - it will help a ton! I stuck a gpr on my bike and it added about 100' to my distance.
Also, loop a couple.... it'll teach you respect for the endoz!

Re: stoppies
the reason your rotors are so hot is because you are not at bp...when u reach bp or near bp you are only slightly draggin or on/off the front break to keep the height were you want it. when you come in fast over and over and you dont pull it up high enough the brakes are workin really hard to stop all the weight of the bike instead of just balancing the bike.
that makes so much sense!
