Re: zx6rr overheating missing out

sounds like a blown head gasket, with (because you continued riding it and overheated it) could have warped the head. I'm not sure what the head on bikes are made of, but if it's aluminum against iron, it's not unheard of for them to warp that bad.

hope it's something cheap and easy though!

Re: zx6rr overheating missing out

doggy is def alum on alum I doubt any top of the line bikes have heavy cast iron blocks. but yeah I had two 636's put 22k miles on both seperately and I never had coolant leakage problems except my 04s brittle radiator, I would be head gasket scared, man if you took out your plugs you should have checked compression ( If even with just your finger to make sure its there) that would rule out head gasket. Did you mention if it was smoking or NOT?

you replaced the valve cover gasket? that's not even the same thing as the head gasket.

if the head gasket is leaking, that requires a tear down to replace...it doesn't have to be leaking externally to be leaking.

also, why when people have problems with their bikes they decide to just let them sit in teh driveway and idle for 20 minutes? i know a few people that have done this, i don't understand teh reasoning. If that's all it took you would see a fleet of bikes outside of a mechanic's business just idling
