Want a another reason to put air in your rear tire?

heres my F%^$@%^$#@^$%&ing REAR RIM after dropping it off at a buddies house on my way home from running 100+ on the highway and practicing some nice long, high endoes at my favorite endo practice spot....the one with stripes down the right side and a dotted line down the left
I attribute this to the fact I used to run really low air pressure when I first started learning, and was doing endoes with that low pressure too. I got lucky and we caught it before it snapped in half setting down another endo. I've got a new rim on now, but it gloss black instead of the red-chrome my front rim is.

last photo sucks. I'll try to get a better one later, I took that at midnight after picking up the new rim, putting rubber on it, and putting the new rim on, so I was tired.

Re: Want a another reason to put air in your rear tire?

i used JB weld on my old srad gsxr rim when i cracked the spoke a few years ago. it held up fine. lol.. although the crack wasnt that big.. only 1/2" or so....
i think the newer rims are just plain fragile. i run 25-28 psi in the rear on my 07s and i already taco'd the hell out of one of em. things all kinds of wobbly..

my old gsxr 1000 with the 6" rim sucked so bad i had to swap it to the 5.5" the 6" would bend too much too quick damn thing would also make tires go flat or lose the bead...

Re: Want a another reason to put air in your rear tire?

I'm running 30 psi on that bike now, and have been for awhile, but I've had the bike since it came out in 03, and thats when I was runnin low pressure.

I got the new wheel on today and I guess I didn't get the alignment right cause I was droppin back coasters on the street and would start drifting right! hahaha Got it straight now, so I guess I need to go try it out.
I was even reppin it Kane style....with a pink button up dress shirt! Bitches in the hood luv that ****! You're right though, the newer bikes wheels are getting brittle and soft. I had this rim and a F4i rim and the F4i seemed noticeably heavier! The new rim I picked up last night was from an 03 versus the 05 rim I had on the back, hopefully it'll last longer.

JB.....I got comedy club tickets for tonight and a wedding tomorrow, but I'll definately see ya if you come to the superlot on sunday.....I gotta get at least one good day in of riding on the weekend (even though I've been playing on the street the last 2!)

I'll go clean my **** up and toss a pic up in a bit, had to dip onto some dirty backroads earlier so my bike looks dirty as hell right now!

Re: Want a another reason to put air in your rear tire?

ok, heres a couple pics of the wheel that should be a lil clearer, and a couple pics of my RR with the black rear wheel, which I don't think looks all that bad, and a front pic of my rr....cause I cleaned it......and a pic of my F4i, cause I cleaned it too.......I don't clean em often

mmmkay.......so I can't seem to get any of my pics to add, even though they are the right size and everything........bad case of the dial-ups!
JowalskiMO is gonna post em up for me when he gets a chance.

Re: Want a another reason to put air in your rear tire?

i got a bunch of little bends in the lip of one of my rears from running low psi and practicing stoppies too. Beat it all back w/ rubber mallet but that wheel wont even hold air unless i run at least 25 psi now or beadseal it lol.

That was when i was first learning slow stuff and running like 10-12 psi, now im starting to work on circles etc and run it at least 20-25

you've never been to KC before have you? They would look at me, laugh, and tell me to get in line, the line starts in California for those claims!

I can leave from my house, go a mile up the road and theres prolly 25-30 BIG potholes in about a 1 mile stretch of road!

I think thats why I suck at circles, cause when I ride wheelies on the street I'm always moving left and right to dodge potholes versus just staying in a turn for a circ.
