Clutch Questoin???

I have an 04 GSXR 600 with about 4400 miles on it. I ride it pretty hard, not abusive, but clutch it up frequently. Not all of the miles are from stunting though only the past 1k.

I noticed yesterday that it doesn't seem to be dropping in RPM's when I shift up in gears, it only seems to be dropping when I hit the next gear. I tried starting in 6th gear a couple times though and it still dies (as I've heard if it takes off then the clutch might be out)....Also, when under normal driving sometimes it is hard to get into other gears, kinda sticky.

Lastly, I hear a rattle sounding like its coming from around the clutch area, but only when i'm in the 4-5k RPM range. Thats the only time I hear it.

My question is how long do most clutchs last when they are frequently used for clutching up? Does this sound like I need a new clutch, or another concern, if maybe a spring or something else is loose allowing it to not disengage properly?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Clutches can take alot of abuse. I really don't think you can kill a clutch with 1k of stunting. Do you ever shift without the clutch?
My old F2 had 28000 miles on it with the original clutch. & I clutched up alot.

Also when you pull the clutch in how far does the lever come in before the clutch engages?

Re: Clutch Questoin???

yeah i thought bikes should be able to handle more miles then that.... it seems normal when i pull it in. i don't have to pull it much before it engages. oh and i never shift without the clutch

i'm starting to think it might be a bushing, spring, or something that isn't letting it let go properly

Re: Clutch Questoin???

It probably won't hurt to join a GSXR forum eather. Usually forums that are bike specifing have tech sections with people with alot of knolage. I joined the cbr forums and they've helped me out a few times. Try going to google and pick a forum( or even a couple) and post this there. Mabey you'll have more luck than here.
