Brake Bleeding & Fluid Question...........

Ok im going to bleed my brakes on my f4i. I was thinking of going to a dot 5 silicone based fluid, but i have read all over the net that you shouldnt mix them. Also is silicone better than synthetic? My last and final question is, when i bleed the front brakes, should i put my front brake on setting 1 or 5?

Re: Brake Bleeding & Fluid Question...........

i dunno if the f4i is suppose to use anything over dot4 since thats what it says on the cap. maybe it can handle it since dot5 didnt come out till later. i like running motul rbf600 dot4. doesnt matter what brake setting, just make sure you go all the way in and all the way out when you press it

Re: Brake Bleeding & Fluid Question...........

Its a heavier fluid, You should get a Mighty Vack break bleeder there 45$ and there well worth it. And as for break fluid use Silkoline pro race 2000 Its a little pricy like 15$ a quart, but its the best fluid....

Re: Brake Bleeding & Fluid Question...........

DOT 5 silicone brake fluid will **** up the seals in your masters and caliper. It's really only used in harleys, and cars and trucks. You can use DOT 5.1 though, but good luck finding it.

"i like running motul rbf600 dot4"

+1

This is the best fluid ever. It's suitable for mixing with dot4 fluid and it has way higher boiling point then stock dot4.

never use any cheap car dot4's, they are crap.

Actually thats not entirely true, I had DOT5 in my r6 for 3 years! same fluid didnt change it for all that time and my **** was fine. Have heard alot of peeps say the same thing though about it eating your seals. Maby I just got lucky:YEAH
