Re: competitions vs exhibitions.. importance?

im not really good anough to do comps or exhibitions yet but soon if i keep at it like i am. but the sport is growing and thats ****** awsome but i definitly like to watch exhibitions more. becuase its more wild and not so planned out. on my way to the stunt spot 30 miles away i was on the freeway and say the go fast truck he got off on the same exit as me to go to the gas station. i followed him in and talked for awile told him i freestyle ride and he hooked me up with 3 t shirt a jerzy and a case of go fast. im sending hime some pics he said he would put them up on the go fast site very cool. if this sport was not getting reconized like it is that never would have happend.

Comps will progress the sport more than exhibition. Comps have a lot more Media exposure than exhibitions. The more Mags, TV, & DVD's that get involved the quicker our sport will grow.
As far as a Sponsor's point of view all they want is exposure to their product.

exhibition has nothing to do with sport, competition is sport...
so, exhibitions are cool and all, stunt riding as a novelty act something like what evil knieval used to do, but as far as stunt riding progressing as a sport exhibitions do nothing.
kane i think you have the terms sport and industry confused

Re: competitions vs exhibitions.. importance?

Until enough of a Fan base is generated, through exhibitionsn shows and other venues.....they will be the most important.....When the sport reached the desired growth size then the Competition(s) will be the focus and the Growing venue for all events!

Remember U don't really have a sport without fans, the underground mentality has to develope into a more social friendly attitude and try to reach as many people and children as possible, this will increase the demand and educate the public to the intricate difficult technical skill required to perform and compete!

I agree to a point Josh, But until every person who sees media coverage, reads magazines and notices posters or products even video ect....but in reality people are not going to just go to a competition to watch because their intrest is not peaked enough, the small shows at bike nites, the exhibitions perforned at other venues with large crowds is what will keep generating the interest and will eventually lead to Competition perferred venue for all stunt related activity.

i dont agree with Kane very often, but i gotta this time!

Dude, your talkin horse ****. This sport has gotten as far as it has by exhibitions and displays. It then got so big it went to competition.
Better re-read definition of "sport". it does not NOT have to be competition to be a sport!
