whats with people trying to sell bikes for wayyy too much

This one guy keeps posting his F4i every week.

I am selling a red/white 2001 CBR 600 F4i, it is in great condition inside and out. It has 12K miles, a custom graphics kit, rear under tail kit, Dubble Bubble crome wind-screen, Shorty-Race mirrors and Yoshimura R-S3 stainless slip on exhaust. This bike has been well maintained and kept garaged. looking to sell if interested please call Adam @ 3/249-2639. $6000.00 I do have pics.

You really think someones gonna pay 6k for your 6 year old F4i?
Your custom graphics kit, chrome windscreen, "shorty-race mirrors" (because a race bike would have mirrors) and stainless slip on exhaust add absolutely nothing to the value besides it looking tacky.

The f4i is one of the most overpriced used bikes ever. I don't get it either-I bought one new for 7k otd in 2002.

but if that's what people are willing to pay

...and people bitch about MY prices LOL. I've been selling used bikes (as well as doing some salvage and selling parts, accessories, dvds, apparel, etc. on ebay) for about 4 years.

If I'm selling a CLEAN F4i (meaning it has NO damage, is not sunfaded, is in good running condition, has nice tires, etc.) I won't sell them for less than $4500. I ask $4900 and negotiate from there, but never below 4.5K for a clean one....but 6K - LOL.

The only way you can get that kind of money for something like that is if you can offer financing to someone with **** credit, tote the note bike sales.

you would think that if him (or anyone else tryin to sell a bike for an overpriced amount) would get the hint that if you have to repost every week YOUR PRICE IS TO HIGH......Ive seen alot of this lately myself and it gets to me....but if you keep looking like I did youll find one for the right price (and those people will keep tryin to sell) DUMBASSES!

If that bikes was CLEAN I would try to get no less than $5500 for it.

People call/email me all the time trying to get rude and talk **** about my prices. A couple seasons ago I took an average of how long a bike was for sale before it was sold. From March through August (I'm in Texas) the average was 17 days before it sold. I had some oddball bikes skew the average though. In mid-summer I've had a bike go in the cycle trader on Friday and have people bring a deposit on it that night, several times every summer.

If I get bitched at for $5500 on that same bike, I wonder how many people call just laughing at $7,500.

Retail on that F4i is 4900 in excellent condition, but as a private sale it's only worth between 3800-4500. I saw a mint red and white on craigslist for 4k the other month. I'd buy a mint F4i for 4k but I wouldn't pay more than that, just like I wont pay more than 2K for an F4i with a salvage title. I had to wait a month to find one but I did and it was worth the wait.

It's not my fault you paid too much at a dealer and got a high interest loan then decide you don't want it anymore. If you were smart in the first place you wouldn't owe 2500 more than your motorcycles worth.
