shifting wheelie?
today is the first day i tried a clutch-up and i did it perfect in 2nd gear and i can do it all the time now. i can do it in 2nd and 3rd gear but it revs out so i wanted to know the best way to shift during a wheelie w/ or w/o the clutch?

Re: shifting wheelie?
Take it up to the balance point, tiny bit more throttle while applying pressure to the shifter towards 3rd, (try not to loop ie 'throttle control') little off the throttle, (click) back on before you lose the balance point.
By the way, no clutch. This is how I do it I am sure there are prob other ways.

Re: shifting wheelie?
I don't see it as any big deal, just playing around I shift all the time. like going from a stop sign or something and getting up to speed I'll shift from first to fourth. I use the clutch too, I don't know if I ever tried it without, as long as your close to bp before you shift it'll drop a little but it's easy to keep it up once you are done shifting

Re: shifting wheelie?
Shifting without clutch is kinda a good way to cook gears. And theres not really a need to shift if your bringing up 3rd. Get it a little higher and work on being smooth and you can ride at a steady speed.

Re: shifting wheelie?
ok listen, because most sportbikes have a constant mesh tranny,it doesn't hurt to power shift(as long as you know what your doing)it does not put any more wear that if you were using the clutch.i personally will always use the clutch from 1 to 2nd just because the bike will always want to go into neutral before 2nd.learn the proper way to clutchless shift and your tranny will be fine, try to power shift at 4000 rpms and yes you'll break things

just curious how you shift in a wheelie at under 4,000 rpms?
So are you cruising along at 3k rpm, then you shift up into the next gear at 1.5k rpm?
I'd imagine anyone making a post wanting to know how to shift in a wheelie, is gonna be shifting at 12,000+
edit: and yes I know its fine to match rpm and shift without the clutch... Im talking about power shifting in a wheelie, there is no matching rpm's, you just jam it into the next gear and hope for the best?? Clutch for me..
