BP Help!!!

Re: BP Help!!!
They're how-to dvd's that come in different levels depending on what skill level you're at. Now, I've never seen them (suuuuuure) but I've heard they're good.
As for the topic at hand. Just like everyone says it's all about practice. Find someone to ride with. preferably someone better than you, but anyone will do. It will help keep you motivated plus it's safer and more fun.

I'm not gonna lie...I have a copy of advanced wheelies II. When I posted up a squid question about BP and brake control, Matt Gorka sent me a PM and told me about the vid. He took my address and mailed it to me...I watched it several times and it helped. Plus, Matt wrote something in the video case that has always stuck with me... "If you bring it up and it doesn't feel right, just bring it down. There is always another wheelie."
Again, good luck...

Re: BP Help!!!
the advice these guys offered sounded good, especially the one about bringing the bike down smoothly to get good throttle control. i'm gonna try that one. ya just gotta practice and keep making minor, sometimes microscopic, adjustments. thats how a pro in any sport is able to master his craft: constantly adjusting until he/she has it down.

is stunterschool.com any good? or is the video the best bet. I'm buying a bike soon, and wanna stunt it. I use to ride bp wheelies on my cousins 80, but never a rocket.

Re: BP Help!!!
allright the easiest way to find a BP on your bike (without buying professional BP gauge from the stealership lol) is to get yourself a 12 bar. once you have the bar on there, you will have the confidence to go past your balance point. youll be able to rely on your bar to keep you from flipping over backwards or ripping off your taillight at the very least. going past your balance point is the only sure way of finding it. once you feel it then you can start working on applying your rear brake to keep the bike at the bp

Well, im serious about stunting, but i dont really have anyone to ride with. I live the middle of wine country, and dont see a whole lot of stunters around here. Ive been considering Stunterschool for a while, just didn't know if it was really a help, or if i could get the same advise (with the flaming of course) from stuntlife..

Re: BP Help!!!
^ i didnt have anyone to ride with either, jsut watch videos and keep practicing. although if i had someome around here to show me what's up im sure i would learn a lot quicker. luckily i found a few people on here within the driving distance, i guess we riding this weekend
i dont think a 12 bar is the right confidence because he will get on his bike thinking that if he goes past that he will just scrape the 12 and be able to hit the break. but as we all know if hes doin 45 mph in first an goes past bp and hits the 12 bar that bar will hit hard and he will land on his ***. unless u know how 2 scrap that 12 bar will actually make him wreck instead of breakin the tail light i dunno id rather replace a tail light and maybe a rear plastic as opposed to losing the whole bike i cant belive u think a 12 bar will save u from flippin a wheelie well, that's how i learned it. i didnt really get hit my bp consistently until i made myself a bar. really takes the guesswork out from whether you are going too far backwards or not.
of course i do not suggest he tries power wheelies or anything goin 45 and trying to scrape the bar, im saying he should get it and work on going 4-5 mph with his rear tire deflated, clutching it in hard and hitting that bar at slow speed even if it means hitting it a little hard at first. and of course have his rear brake covered in case anything goes wrong. after he figures out how much he should rev the engine and how hard to drop that clutch he'll be able to just raise it to bp and not any further.
just my

When I first started riding wheelies on my ol r1 i couldnt hit the bp at first, i saw that stunterschool thing, but never did it.
In all honesty, i bet anyone on here that DID go to that stunterschool site, are to embarrassed to admit it

I've been trying to find the bp on my bike and work the back break a little.....I pop it up in first and get pretty high but I always let off the gas to quickly and it comes right down.....2nd gear wheelies are no prob and I went to a 60 tooth sprocket....just cant seem to ride out 1st gear..any advice would be great, im running out of ideas...
if you need to pull the battery, i know its somewhere in there

Re: BP Help!!!
try and hook up with some riders...having a teacher pushes u and helps so much...that and try video taping yourself...when i 1st started seat standers i made my friends take a pic so i could see what i looked like...my body position looked like i was taking a dump..its easyer to adjust when you can see your errors
