buells for stunting

well im getting a buell ( a xb12stt or a xb9sx) and wanted to get some info on them, how are they for stuntin? how durable are they? any oil starvation issues with the v-twin? and do you have to convert it to chain drive to get a bigger sprocket, any info would be appreiciated

Have you ridden one yet ? They look cool shake and vibrate like a son off a bitch if there not leaking oil you need to add som............. slower than any 600 i have ridin, but the brakes kick ***. i know a guy with one he has a powers cage on it and everytime he drops it it snaps motomount bolts. Oh ya heavy pigs if you have owned a Honda, you will be disapointed!!!!!!!!!!

Re: buells for stunting

not as bad as all that.

first off get the 9 not the 12. the 12 stalls too easy.

you don't have to buy the kit to do the chain conversion. just buy a front and rear sprocket and use the belt tensioner to keep the chain tight.

the have a HUGE balance point but they are high maintaince. DONT get a cage. they crash pretty well with out it and parts are really cheep. make sure you get the rubber frame protectors.

use lots of extra oil. tighten subframe bolts after every few rides. they do vibrate quite a bit.

Re: buells for stunting

I stunted a xb 12 for two years and never had a major problem, beside the fact it had extremly to much tourqe on the low end. ... Just got a new 9 a couple weeks ago and would not trade it for any Jap bike. overall One of the most mechanicly toughest bikes I have riden. They are a little fragile when you dropem though...

is there any good solid points on the frame to mount a cage if i make my own? Does the xb9 have the same tourqe issue?

Re: buells for stunting

My brother owns an xb12s and gotta say that thing is scary haha. The torque on those bikes are crazy and blow away any japanese bike I've ridden. Well for street wise and instant torque..on the freeways they aren't to great for speed but it's understandable. As reliability goes...I think a lot of people just don't take care of their bikes (especially a lot of stunters haha). My brother hasn't had a problem with his yet and he rides it every day and had it for about 2 years so far.

Re: buells for stunting

From what I hear the Buell handling is awsome for the twisties, but not the best for stunting. The good thing is when you brake parts you still have your Honda!
Post pics when you get it.

If you ain't parkin lot stunnin' get the 12.. And slap a D&D on it and a ez pull clutch. And don't wreck. I loved my xb12r.. but I love my 636 more.

Re: buells for stunting

its a dry sump so i think it has no oil starvation. my buddy had one powers cage made it vibrate even worse... it broke the shifter lever twice and when that happens u need to replace the whole primary case. i gotta say i never seen a bike pull so hard on idle!! i think its a real fun street bike... but being aircooled it takes a lot of abuse in a lot. i think my friend is buyin a 636 or a f41 and keepin the buell for the streets. its kinda a handicap to learn to stunt on.

Re: buells for stunting

If u really are passionate about bikes i think you will really like having the buell, shur its 180 degrees diffrent but that just adds to the fun of stunting it. Getting all yur stunts on lock will be a lot like when u first started riding because its so diff than the jap bikes u have been riding thats my im just comin back 2 stuntin after 1 1/2 years off and its just like i started riding an im loving the feeling but 2 years a go i rode an xb12 and hade a blast it was my friends so i dint get to loose but now that i think about it felt just like i do no like im startin over just thought i add that
