putting on cage and already...

yea so im outside attempting to put on my cage and i come upon the locknut bolt (long bolt) on the rear engine mount bolt. I got the honda book it says I need special locknut wrench and gives a part number for it...ughh...is there any other way to loosen this thing without that tool I kinda wanted to get this thing on like now.

btw, once you get the nut off...the 10-14""(i forget which) is real easy to take out. u gotta kinda pull on it as you loosen.

Re: putting on cage and already...

I have an SI cage putting it on my 01 f4i prolly shud have specified. The Long bolt aka rear engine mount bolt..well on the right side it has a locknut. now I went at undoing the nut like i normally would but its tight as hell and it feels like somethin is guna snap. in the honda book it says somethign about a locknut wrench and shows a picture of it. do i need this thing to unscrew that nut or what?

Re: putting on cage and already...

wait...

are you using your wrench on the long bolt, or the nut on the other side?

ur supposed to loosen the nut first...then the long bolt will come off.

or just use an air impact because that's what they are designed to do, break loose bolts.

Re: putting on cage and already...

ya, dizzle is right, that cage is awsome. be careful if it starts bending though, once it bends to the point of no return you have to cut that ****** off....mine is at that point after a few SS coaster crashes. bike is still perfect though!

My bike is FF so the majority of the time spent was hogging out the plastics. Cage looks tight as hell tho I'm very happy with my choice. It was an EZ decision tho since everyone here says they kick ***. Also thanks to HAI once again for their great service!
