bent cage

what do you guys do when you tweak a cage. I just stretched out my SI and snapped the all thread. It still looks like its in good condition I just cant line up the rear hole w/the swing arm? I can't tell where it's bent? And I don't want to take a torch and hammer to it anyway.

any suggestions?

Re: bent cage

if your not willing to use a little hammer action then buy a new one

I bent my FI a little bit and i just beat it a little till it lined up again... good as new.

Hahaha, thats great. Just heat it up and find the bend or hit Ian up, he may help you out on it but hes really slammed right now. Worth a try.

Re: bent cage

905 bent and stripped the main nut the the long bolt that goes through the frame goes into. used huge leftover steel tubing from a muffler shop to bend the cage arms and had the muffler shop chop off the stripped nut, put n over sized one inside the tub and welded 2 nuts that fit the bolt together n welded the 2 fitting nuts on the oversized one.
don't line up perfect but it's good enough

Re: bent cage

I bent my railz, heated it up and bent it back, but on the next fall it was fucked. bent right away and busted the motor.

Re: bent cage

Thats because the heat softens up the material.(Anieling).
It will bend back fine but it will be 10x weaker at that point.

Re: bent cage

Re: bent cage

i bent the bolt on my fi cage and ordered a new one from fi, then when i took it out it stripped my bike so i just put the new bolt in and put cardboard to hold it in place, i am waiting to order the bigger bolt. i've dropped it the way it is now and it is holding up pretty good

Re: bent cage

If it bent the very next time you had to use it then you over heated it when bending it back.... if you want a pritty cage and dont like hitting things with a hammer dont stunt lol
