Weak Fork Seals on 954? HELP!

Wonder how often does your fork seals blow up on your 954.
Seems to be quite a constant issue with ours, it's three pairs up to now,
bike was bought new out of the crate,
i guess there's an issue with this particular forks?

No issues. Don't strap the bike down real hard and if you are replacing them yourself make sure everything is CLEAN and use a plastic bag over the fork tube when putting the seal over the top also lube the **** out of them. Do not use anything other than a clean rag and clean water to wipe down your tubes when cleaning your bike.

Re: Weak Fork Seals on 954? HELP!

All of the works have been made by professional mechanics,
the bike has been strapped up for carrying a few times but not in these late months.
I doesn't make sense. there's a talented rider up there, not really a noob,
but still those fork seals have blown up.. not once, not twice,
but THREE TIMES in a SIX MONTHS period, it's ******* too much!!

I use a wheel chok and strap the back only so thers no pressure on the front or not as much but the next time you have the seals redone have them add 50cc less fluid in each tube and they should last a year or 2 at least

Re: Weak Fork Seals on 954? HELP!

Forks seals will leak or blow for the following reasons....Dirt, scratches/gouges on the fork tube, too much pressure, cold weather, worn bushings or not being installed right. I would say its too much pressure when landing from a wheelie and the colder weather. You can run stiffer springs with a lower oil height, or run thicker oil and/or increase your compression damping with a lower oil height. This will keep a lower air pressure when the forks are compressed, but this is a set-up strictly for stunting (it may have negative effects for street riding) Suspension is very critical and important and small changes can dramaticly change performance.
