dented 600rr tank

so it took me about 2 hrs but i finally popped the plastic cover off of my tank, dented the tank, and formed the plastic cover back to the dented tank. It was a pain in the ars but i just used a dead blow to dent the tank and then a heat gun and the rounded side of a rubber mallot to form the cover to the tank. It looks real smooth, almost like it came from the factory (the way it should have). hopefully Barne's will have my risers done tomorrow and I can post some pics of the dented tank AND the DB set up.

Re: dented 600rr tank

i got a spare tank and tank cover......I need to clean mine up like that, I've melted, remelt, and remelt it again and the tank cover sucks now!

Looks good man......grip tape is a lil harsh, might try some clear MX grip tape....shows your pretty paint thru it, holds you tight, but doesn't shred your jeans as bad!

Re: dented 600rr tank

It figures that someone would beat me to it. I've got a 600RR, but it's not a stunt bike, was considering building a stunt bike RR and was going to do the heat gun thing or attempt it. I hadn't seen one yet, I thought I was onto something, guess not, DOH!

I'm glad to know it works though, looks good.

that is almost the exact same dent i put in mine. i wanted it a little deeper but that small a$$ gas tank wouldnt allow me to go much deeper.

How did you keep the paint from bubbling? my **** bubbled up all over the place, not that it matters b/c i am putting some black grip tape or spray on bedliner over it NEway and my bike is beat up all over but just wondering.

Still havent got my risers back from Barnes but hopefully i can post pics sat or sun.
