Re: Alpinestars vs. Icon

I've worn both Joe Rocket and A.Star. Both fit me really well and both offered great protection. Never have worn an Icon, but when it comes to Joe Rocket and A. Star it's just like anything else out there... you get what you pay for. From textile to leather, whatever you have had experiences with and works then I suggest you stick with real life experience and not one someone says about it.

Re: Alpinestars vs. Icon

yeah gloves that last longer than a month are great!!!! As for the complaints for ICON's weird designs, do you all really wanna wear the same hunch back 90degree elbowed black and grey jacket forever?? Nothing against Alpine stars but a lot of companies are doing new designs that selling and becoming more popular, reason is people don't wanna wear only black and they don't all wanna wear the same ****. Thats what is great about this place, everyone gets a choice and there is a jacket out there for every person,

people have different personalities so why not offer funny looking jean jackets with goofy looking patches and leather sleeves......

Re: Alpinestars vs. Icon

The jackets you mention are not intended for the sportbike market, they are Vtwin affiliated (but as like most of the designs it can go to the cruisers or the sportbikes either way it is up to the purchaser and the mentality and the rider that wants to be functional, safe, and not blend into the mix) and if you apply the meanings in that realm it is easier understood, as for the "fake" patches....step out of the line (or box) and view it from another perspective, it reads out and says something..a statement if you will. Read into it, don't just look at the surface. They have meaning....I am fortunate enough now to work for Icon and if you knew the deisgners and thier backgraounds and full encompassment of motorcycling you would garner the respect and see the intentions and meanings. Oh and Icon is PU not HJC.

Additionally Icon is designed by riders and influenced by many aspects. So here is a thought. Do you buy something that the industry labels you as sportbike gear, stunt gear, cruiser gear and wear what they want you to buy due to thier labeling? Or do you have the ability to go with what you feel........

Re: Alpinestars vs. Icon

Not sure if the SL folks are aware but Icon also supports No Limit Japan (CB's) 5 members including a 21 year veteran Honda test rider Yoshihiro Ichimoto. (He's the guy I posted pics of a while back that stunts the CBR1000 with the 62 sprocket.....OVERKILL!) haha

And for sure I know of Manu in France "Mr. Face Skitch"!! Not sure if there is more overseas.

And definately can't forget Christian Cognini from SoCal, aka HOOPS!
