Pretty much the more teeth in the back/less in the front the easier it is, but you're a better rider in my opinion if you can do it stock. Learn to slip the clutch.

Just to avoid starting another thread, what sprocket sizes would you guys recommend for a gixer 6?
Someone recommended 48 rear, while leaving the front alone. What do you guys reckon?
Cheers.

i have a 51 tooth rear sprocket for a f4i or 600rr if anybodys interested, but as far as topic goes learn on stock gearing.when you mess with the gearing the engine brake kicks up and makes the throttle real choopy if your not used to it or havnt really mastered much throttle control.turn the idle up to 3000 and try that, and i agree get a cage quick.both those bike's are junk if you crash.

Yeah I've learnt good enough throttle control (imo) on the SV, that's why I got the gixer, I was tired of my engine going bang.
Just thought I'd like it to have a bit more low down kick.

dude, listen to crotch, he will point u in the direction u should b going.Don't waste money on a sprocket and chain set just yet.Get the f4i sprocket off ebay for like 10$ ,get really good ,then next summer you can get a pizza pan sprocket if u want.I know , cause I was in ur situation a year ago.and crotchy straightened me out.
