Front Rotor On Rear Wheel?

Anyone ever tried this? I know it can be done, because I saw a Green Mountan Outlaw bike with a HUGE front rotor on the rear wheel back in the day... It was an '01 black and yellow 929. Never heard about how well it worked or what though... Anyone who can find the pic of the bike I'm talking about gets mad rep points!

Re: Front Rotor On Rear Wheel?

maaaad points for you brother

now does that bike even have a handbrake on it? it looks like it only has one caliper? what is that on the swingarm, is that an adapter?

and actually now that I look at it, it's not that big of a front rotor.. it looks different and a little bit smaller than the(310mm?) 929 front rotors... I wonder what kinda bike it's from and what all it took to make that work... I think that with a 6 piston zx-6r front caliper and a 16*18 brembo would make the ultimate handbrake!

Re: Front Rotor On Rear Wheel?

that cage is crazy. :YEAH

i'd be afraid of that brake setup, though.
seems like it would lock up the rear wheel too easily.

Re: Front Rotor On Rear Wheel?

I bought that bike and that was the first chit I took off it. Sucked. It was an 01/02 GSXR1000 front rotor and tripple piston front caliper with a Willwood proportioning valve... like a hotrod or race car. That bike was a mess. After a frame up rebuild and alot of parts it now looks like this.... still no handbrake though.
