brake fluid

is it bad to use dot 5 fluid? just wondering caus ethe resevoir cap says dot 4 only. been using dot 5 for a while now can't tell the difference

the dot only means the boiling point of the fluid.as long as you use a dot 4 or higher,it's fine.you could even use dot 3 but you'll feel the brakes fade a bit when braking hard.hope it helps

4 or higher is fine. when your bike was made DOT 5 probally wasnt. but now that it is its fine to use. -Joseph

some rubber parts may not like the dot5. It's best to use dot4 approved motul 600 synthetic fluid, it's suitable for dot4 system, but it has a lot higher boiling point the stock dot4.
