SSB doesnt like stunts!?

SSB doesnt like stunts!?
things are happening inside the primedia camp, and after a long talk this weekend and a flip through the newest SSB. i can understand why..
east coast.. your killing us.
the new XDL article is horrible. its an eyesore in a magazine filled with 100,000 dollar custom bikes, and equally priced professional looking drag bikes/riders, pulling large numbers with large support behind them.
then the XDL comp article... nothing but clapped out, unwashed broken down 5 year old F4Is and hoodies.. its hideous..
if I were SSB...
Id stop covering stunting too...
we already lost our covers.. we are gonna lose our coverage too unless we smarten up.
SSB is in the business to sell magazines.. clapped out garbage streetfightered bikes with rusty fairings, and visor-less, hoody/blue jean wearing poorboy lookin stunters... will not sell mags compared to twin turbo having busas, or clear wheeled gxrs.. hell.. a hot broad is 10x more appealing on the cover than a clapped out honda...
its the next evolution... and i dont think i can blame the change at all..

Re: SSB doesnt like stunts!?
Im not sure how you can classify what pictures ssb has in their mag as being representative of the stunters or stunting on the east coast from XDL. Nothing for nothing, but some of the best riders, Teach, John Legion, Suicydl, Borne,(yes Im making you east coast) are on the east coast.
SSB has an obligation to sell magazines I understand that, but as I recall from the very first issues, it was about stunting. I remeber meeting Mike Seate and a photographer at the starboyz stuntfest, and them wanting to get in touch with the real stunt riding scene. They built ssb on us, now they dont like us??? thats what that mag was for. bling bikes and non stunting is more a 2wheel tuner gig. Not everyone stunting has a minty bike, and yes, streetfighter bikes are very popular, not too mention those f4i's you so harshly describe.
I guess Im not sure what your getting at with this post Kane. I have much respect for you and what you bring to the sport of stuntriding, but if you feel that everyone who competes is going to have a minty new bike, I just dont see that happening. Besides, XDL was giving and taking away points on appearance of bikes...

Re: SSB doesnt like stunts!?
I think he's refering to the fact that maybe the mag wants to have nicer looking bikes showing up in comps.. Kinda like that whole arguement about dude loosing points in XDL cause his bike looked like ****. Sounded like the mag is steering away from stunting because of that fact

im not saying east coast riders arent good riders.. in fact i do think they are some of the best riders. not taking away from skill at all..
my bike is in NOWAY fresh and minty.. lol its a freshly painted pile of JUNK! aaron colton rode my bike and got off in 10 seconds and just said.. "this thing is garbage"
my point is this..
F4Is are old... they are not even sportbikes anymore. they have banana seats. they are great at circles big deal, i think its time we all stepped up and got bikes that the factories actually want to sell.
i understand that we all cant afford to just go buy brand spankin new bikes. (hence the reason i ride my clapped out 03 everyway) but we all can do a lot to clean up the overall look of our bikes...
streetfighters dont all have to look bad, but just taking the fairrings off does look bad. really bad.
Tony D's old 900rr was a damn good looking streetfighter.
Darius' F4easy is a damn good looking streetfighter (although his exhaust can is crap)
but my point isnt just streetfighters/fairrings. its really basic.
Go buy the newest SSB mag. and open the pages and look at it from 3-4ft back.
its obvious in comparison. stunting is an eyesore..
we need to shape up

Re: SSB doesnt like stunts!?
Some people are more concerned with their skills, you know learning new $hit, pushing their riding skills. Not being a hot pink, power ranger looking ***.
And the bikes at XDL were not that bad, they are STUNT bikes, not show bikes.
"hoody/blue jean wearing poorboy lookin stunters" what the hell is that suppose to mean? I can think of several riders that were there with matching lbz clothing, and since when is wearing blue jeans and a hoody a sign of being poor?

big joe molina rides an F4I.. and its a DAMN GOOD LOOKING f4I
why is that? you figure it out
im sure factories would want us to ride newer bikes, but unless they start handing out new bikes to everyone i dont see that feasable.. ride what you got. but at least pretend like you give a **** about it.

Isn't that the damn truth...

Re: SSB doesnt like stunts!?
Yeah I can't stand the street fighters with no fairings... I mean if you compete take your plastics off when you practice and put them on for comps... Take like 2hrs of your time to put a fresh coat of paint on

concerned with skills!? there are no tricks u can do without fairrings that u cant do with.
your missing my point completely.
I wear a hoody and blue jeans everyday. but when i compete i dont.
look the part. look at the new SSB mag!!!
compare the stunters to the drag racers. compare the suntbikes to the custom bikes....
we are getting our asses handed to us. and i guarentee unless we shape up.
we will not get the magazine coverage we used to...
hell we already dont.

Re: SSB doesnt like stunts!?
The only ratty bike there was DHerz's and he killed it. The weather was HIDEOUS. There was no good light to photograph in. THAT'S why it looked bad. The riders were sick.
