Re: Tank Denting

kwiksteel last forever, and doesnt break down in gas like jb weld... u can also sand and paint it, like a body filler almost..

its a 2 compound putty that u roll n mix together

or for the best result stop now, have ur **** dented and painted by a pro, and have it welded......

i rocked numerous craks that would puddle gas on my tank....no fire.......

thatīs exactly how I did it and at the end I used a rubber hammer to work it out a little bit....itīs simple and works great, my dent came out pretty decent, I can only recommend that technic.

Re: Tank Denting

kwick steel steel is my best freind. been using it for years.

I never knew it can withstand gas.
Are you sure it doesn't break down?

that would be great if it holds up.
I dent the living hell out my tank and it leaks at the gas cap seal a little sometimes when its full to the brim. I have been looking for some kind of sealer to put under my gas cap.

I will post some pics of my 636 tank dent. I wanna see if anyone has theirs dented as much as mine. Its dented so far I couldn't shut the tank because it hit the airbox. After a guy gave me an idea of removing the airbox completely I got the idea to cut a giant square hole in the box and fiberglass it to the shape of the indentaton of the tank.

works perfect. The air box is smaller now but the engine runs perfect now.
If we had mass airflow sensors in our airboxes it would run all screwed up.

Re: Tank Denting

quick steel is awesome. used it my old tank and it held up great. just be sure to sand the area and wipe off all the gas residue.

side note, leaking gas on a hot motor won't start a fire, it has to have a spark to ignite gas.

my dent is to the air box but no mods to box itself. I did use a hammer and chisel to get out the filler neck to get the top almost flush with the lower part of the tank
