Just to so people know, we know that we had major problems last year at the old track, the best thing we could have done was move the event, a lot of the problems we had at the old track have already been resolved and we are working on making things better for the riders as well, riders that qualify on sat will get in free on sunday and get the redbull treatment like 05 food & drinks, if this was invite only no problem we could let 25 riders in free all weekend, 200 + riders we cant, on Sat & Sunday, when a rider goes on the track, he will be allowed 1 camera guy out there to film him, when his run is over the camera guy and the rider will exit the track

Back in the day when we started this thing 02, I spoke with several tracks, including the 1 we are at know, they said no way, stunts on the street on motorcycles to dangerous, to much liability, the only track that excepted us was the Lakeland Dragstrip, because of its under ground low budget set up I think, anyway we stayed there as long as possible out of respect, we spoke with the USA speedway about moving in 05 and gave the dragstrip a chance to clean up, nothing, last year the things that the owner promised, I will keep this short like new bathrooms that everyone seen half finished is still not done, long story short the new track is a major improvement and we are working to make things better

A lot of riders are comparing Stuntwars to invite events with 25 riders and 1 class,this is not an invite event, eventually our goal is, the 1st event we have every year will be the qualifier, once you qualify you are on for the year, the riders that go on tour will be catered to, every year new people will have a chance to qualify for the year or at least ride at the 1st one

 

just to clarify things, once a rider registers, it doesnt mater if it is Wednesday or Saturday morning he gets into the event free all week or weekend

All registered riders pay no admission all week, registration starts onsite at the track on Wednesday, January 10, 2007

Oh would a trophy be fine enough for YOU? Didn't think so. You wouldn't work out, train and practice every day, beating up your body & your bike & coming out of your own pocket to travel the country competing for a chance at a silly trophy! The cojones & risk required deserve a great payout, but it's also a bit of an elite comp. Not everybody rolls the endless endos, but we all compete in freestyle. And seeing as there is such a greater level of individual style, creativity, and variety of skills demonstrated in that category, how is it fair for it not to pay out just a little bit more?

 

Ok I've finally had enough. It's about time I responded to at least a small sample of the disgustingly large number of ignorant comments that have made up almost half of this thread so far. I've sat back and let everyone be entitled to their selfish opinions, and now you can deal with mine. I just can't believe how many of my own friends that I respected, apparently have little to none for me and what I do. Thanks guys.

Um dude... The risk is *doubled* with tandem. And although that means it doesn't draw as many RIDERS, it draws something more important-- the SPECTATORS.

You know what? You're completely forgetting the core group of people that actually provide the prize money in the first place-- the SPECTATORS. For gawds sakes people- if you can do a really really rediculously long coaster or circles til you're blue, then by all means use your own damn individual freestyle time to show us what ya got! Just as popping a basic wheelie does NOT automatically make you "a stunter," I'll be the first to say I think it's just as lame as anybody else does when a chick truly is acting like a backpack and just hangs on while her partner does a wheelie. Lame. But you know what? Those people know better than to try to show up and compete with the rest of us that truly do some extremely tricky and deadly feats. So I don't appreciate any of you allowing the idea of people like that to drag down the attitude towards what the rare few of us true tandem stunters risk life & limb to achieve, same as any of you.
I'd love to see how well most of you do with an extra +100lbs on the bike, having to balance & coordinate 2 people on the machine instead of having it all to yourself to move around on, and knowing that if any little thing goes bad, it goes REAL BAD. Trusting yourself 100% to another persons skill or with their well-being like that is something I doubt most of you have the guts or the ***** to do. There is absolutely nothing easy about tandem at the competitive level, and it should garner no less respect just for being less common. It is less common because it is that much more difficult & challenging in its own aspects, which truly should gain it all the MORE respect for the few that attempt it. And if you would care to take your heads out of your a$$es and look around, you'd know that tandem is becoming a very rapidly growing category.
It's bad enough that tandem payouts tend to be insultingly low, particularly when that amount is split between two people risking their necks just as much or even more than you, but to suggest that it be taken away entirely so that YOU can have a chance at a little more for yourself ON TOP of the already highest paying category, is just greedy and straight up D1CK. Get over yourselves.

You don't want a separate tandem event? FINE. Put us back in with Individual Freestyle. And don't ***** when I still go home with the payout you had your eyes on.

 

Tandem takes an extremely ballsy non-rider, that's it. If someone wants to take on a tandem person in an individual event I think that is fine, but a seperate event for someone that probably is not as good is bs. Take tandem out. Team events were what stunt contests used to be all about.

I think once it gets to a certain level, if you've place at a previous event you should be put in a pro category. Then have like a rookie category to give squids like me 10 minutes of fame.

Haha, I tried tandem with Scott's girl (Lacey) yesterday for the first time ever and I was doing combo circles within the first two tries. SS, Flamingo, Can-can, Ralph Louie and so on.

 

It's true - you killed it with her. Sad part is she's done more circles than I have now.


Valeska, no one is trying to take anything away from you but the future of this sport is based soley on individual activities, and the majority of participants are individual freestyle - therefore the majority of payouts should be in ratio with that.

 

How many competeing tandem riders are there? Last time I knew there weren't very many out there. Why not just have a paid exhibition instead of a competition?

Yes, obviously there are. I don't expect you to know much about what you don't compete in though so it's ok. But you'll see for yourself at SW.

 

Yo Whacko, I don't know a damn soul that got into tandem cuz it was the easy road. Damn near every one of them got bored with doing the same damn **** everybody else in individual was doing, and wanted to step it up to make it interesting again.

Don't worry about payouts to backpacks. Backpacks don't win. True hardcore stunters and nothing less is what wins the comps. Try watching one sometime. Things have been changing.

 

There haven't always been too many in the past, but more & more killer teams are stepping up. Teams from all over the country will be at Stuntwars, and the competition will be fierce.

We DO do paid exhibition gigs all the time. But those tend to be crowd pleaser shows. We deserve to have a competition to whip out the really dangerous and technical stuff and determine who's the ballsiest & the best, same as you.
