why my 900rr wont run?

started running like **** out at the lot i figured it was just low on gas so i charged the bateery and filled up the tank today and it wont start so i took off the tank and sprayed some carb cleaner in all the carbs and it will run for 20 secs i did this at least 5 times and it will run as long as i keep spraying
but i guess its just not getting fuel what do you guys think?

thanks Joe

Re: why my 900rr wont run?

probably weak spark. why did you charge the battery? does it crank over with authority? if you think it's going bad, take it to auto zone and get it tested for free. If that's not it, change the spark plugs. doing burnouts on carb'd bikes fouls the plugs pretty good....

p.s. make sure your vaccum hose from the crankcase to the petco(k didn't come loose

Re: why my 900rr wont run?

Have you looked at the filter inside the tank? Flipped the fuel selector back and forth from On to Reserve? Check the hoses to the pet(ock... there'll be the main fuel line, the vaccum line, and the drain line coming out the bottom. vaccum line has to be hooked up, and can't have any holes in it or it will do that... make sure it's on the nipple sticking out of the case too.

Re: why my 900rr wont run?

oh yeah that's real cherry

makes my bike look like a show piece

BTW... that's a 95 tank on your bike, which can only be mounted to a 93-95 frame.... how sure are you it's a 96? If it's a 95 you might have a bad fuel pump

Re: why my 900rr wont run?

hmm, well I'm sure that's a 95 tank... 93-95 tanks have one mounting hole in the front, and the frame is only tapped for that one mounting hole. If you somehow have it rigged to work with two holes on your frame and one on your tank, then I guess... but if the frame only has one hole for the front of the tank to mount to, it's a 95... look on the engine block and see if it says 919cc or 893cc..

Look at the side of his frame where the triangle is,where the subframe mounts its tapered just like yours. If it was a 95 frame the back piece would go straight up with no taper and it would be alot thicker there.I had a 95 frame with a 98 tank on it,all you have to do is make a little bracket for it.

yeah good point, it is a 96-99 frame.... it could still have a 893 motor and fuel pump though.

Re: why my 900rr wont run?

So look on the right side of the motor at the clutch cover. If there's a window that lets you see the oil inside, it's a 96-99 motor, if there's no window and you have to check the oil level with the dipstick on the plug, it's a 93-95 motor

Re: why my 900rr wont run?

There is a vent in the tank if you crush the tank down too much you crimp the air vent preventing any air to get in the tank and will not let any gas to the pet****. Try putting an air hose in the vent hole in the bottom of the tank and you should be able to hear air goin in the tank, no air no fuel movin, the air may also pop the tank out a bit to vent it. I have a stunt tank for a 900 if your intrested. I had the problem w my 96 and it would run for a few min then run out of gas. I thought it was the fuel filter, or clogged line then just lucked out and my dad stuck the air hose on the vent and figured it out
