Re: thumb throttle benefits?

Its mostly personal preference. But I think that its less likey to whisky throttle when your jumping around on the bike alot. other than that... nothing. but once again that is personal opinion.

Re: thumb throttle benefits?

this thread died in november 06' and just brought back to life today.... i put one on a dirtbike that i had awhile back ago, but i turned it upside down so i gave it gas with my index finger, that was hard to get use to but once i did it felt better then twist, or regular thumb throttle..

i def see the benefits the thumb throttle could give, i used to stunt my quads when i was a younger but feel like i am alot smoother with a twist always was kinda twitchy with the thumb throttle but could just be me

Re: thumb throttle benefits?

I have a thumb throttle on my zx-6r, i havent really riding alot with it yet (winter time) haha but ill say this for it......its SMOOOOOTH, and you have more control on the bike. You arnt trying to be light handed with your weight on the throttle so you can twist it easy, its also good for bailing so you dont accidently twist the throttle! I thought it would be good for combos if i want to try it this year so i dont have to worry about slamming the throttle by accident. It took me like no time to hit idle again after the switch, feeeeel so nicehaha. i rigged mine of with a 50 cc quad throttle, why you may ask? Becuase it has a shorer arm inside for the smaller carb, and it gives you a longer throttle travel to carb opening ratio giving you basically a less sensative throttle, its very small and compact, i just had to make a cable for it. Works great, hope that helps.

That actually seems like one of the coolest mods I've ever heard of for a bike. Best leverage (sp???) and no accidental throttle. Now I'm thinking...
