Sponsors What Can You Do For Me......

Re: Sponsors What Can You Do For Me......
my computer went crazy. Dang. As I was trying to say, I'll step out, this is a useful thread. I had no business busting his ***** here. He's good for the sport. I'd like to help push the sport too. And a lot of the stuff he said to me was right on the money. It's what he said about me that got to me. And the fact that he never stopped.

I'm not saying either of them is right (going on on a limb here, but I would guess that almost EVERYONE in this thread or on this site doesn't know either), and I don't really give a ****, but what they are writing makes sense.
Everyone so quick to hop on someone elses thangy.. how about STFU and stop fueling the fire. I knew there was a reason I stopped coming to this site.

i would say that depends on your program.
are you at a national level recieving national coverage then think national level sponsorships if your at a local level, then think local level sponsorships..
ive never done international shows, i dont focus on them at all. none of my sponsors are international sponsors.
example. I had an opportunity to goto central america last april (and oh did i want to!!!!) but unfortunatley i landed the AMA california speedway gig instead on the same day. joe rocket, shoei, fmf all of them would much rather me attend the cal speedway for 40,000 american bases sportbike fans than a show in central america for 12312442135,0123541234124 non industry fans...
make sense?
local is usually easier at first too, because you can build a more first name basis friendship repore with them at first

Uh no doubt...my comments were strictly geared towards Excessa. Just getting a bit tired of what appears to be her jabbering about some documentary and whats good for the stunt world in what feels like every damn thread on here...
Like I said from a pure outsiders perspective, her posts seem to be a bit WHACKED.

I don't care about all the people swinging off Kanes sack. I only cared about Kane.
But in the end, that's fine. So many people have met me now and have not seen me trying to get on anyone, that he's just outing himself as a liar. Like he did in the other thread with the "I hope someone wrecks" then "I don't hope someone wrecks."

I dont care you are whoreing my thread that has nothing to do with that subject.
So lets stay on topic.
Anyone else have any good info or want to put up something that they think makes them qualifyed to have a sponsor.

Corporate sponsors are psetty conservative for the most part and they want to maintain that image usually, sometimes they will go out on a limb and look at other avenues to market their product, but they dont usually want anything to do with representation that doesn't meet their standards. People are making some very valid points in this thread and you should look through and choose the correct ones and go with them. Presentation is everything are you
1. are you personable & professional (Talk well with others and make time for supporters)
2. How is overall appearance (Bike condition Transport vehicle condition and personal condition and i dont mean weight i mean do you look appraoachable by others)
3.What does your resume show (how many shows per year attendance any mag or television coverage and how will you benefit that particular sponsor)
4. Can you ride a motorcycle well (chances are you probably can if you got #3 covered and if not you can work on that one because its the easiest one on the list to learn and do consistently)
I hope these few tips help and give you some light on the subject there is more to it than that but i feel that these are some important points. I hope that all the riders out there stick with it and get the support that they deserve because there are many talented individuals out there.
Good luck and dont give up persistence is key

Think in terms of shooting for the stars to land on the moon. There is no reason to limit yourself, contact every company all the way to the top of the food chain.
If you show a little tact and have your act polished then if they pass on your package now they may very well be interested sometime in the future.
Use this scenerio - get to the stripclub we start to sit down and before we have a drink Bambi asks us if we are ready for a table dance from her. We tell her, not just yet thank you. She says "well hmfffffff, whatever!" and huffs away. When we are ready to start getting table dances Bambi is not very high on our priority list. That is unless she looks so incredible that you would slap your mother over her. Which is a good example of how much your image can help when trying to land sponsorship.
More advice: Do not overlook the value of networking.
Networking is important enough to get taught in almost every college across this nation. Corporate America practices it every single day in restaraunts, nightclubs, boating, hiking, and on golf courses... Fortunately for you this hobby lends itself to some rather cool opportunities for networking such as races, track days, competitions, shows, practice spots, across parts counters, and inside stripclubs.
"It's not what you know, it's who you know" is a VERY powerful concept. I purposefully omit any negative conotation with it because I feel that when people start the traditional complaining about the phenomenon they are missing valuable lessons.
If you want a good case study on how the lack of people-skills can seriously interfere with talented riders finding support just take a look around here...

girl your crazy...
i do hope someone wrecks i care less.. i dont want anyone to get hurt, but if someone (really only directed towards the usual trash talkers) go fling their bikes down the road at a buck 90 i dont care one bit!!!
have I mentioned latelty I am a human being, just because i get some limelight in this sport, through sponsors and press doesnt change that.
i get a LOT of flak from a lot of the newer and lesser exposed/supported riders in this industry and there are a lot of time when i spout off quick, someone upsets me and i am quick to fight back. i have been that way my whole life. fact is.. i have been at spots where people whom i dont like very much at all, and have wished harm upon before in the past have wrecked.. (artiom last week) and you know what? I am a lisenced EMT, that was my job. that part of me is still inside and kicks in strong. I am always there to make sure everyone is ok and do what needs to be done if not.
I have had people die in my arms, dont u dare try to make me out to be some monster. you dont even know me.
my mother is a ER nurse, has been one for 15+ years and you know what she does when she gets home.. makes a lot of really poor tasted jokes. thats how she blows off the stress of her job. to me its similar. in my house growing up there was a photo of my mother holding a severed leg on the refridgerator. what was on yours? I am my mothers son, and our personalities are the exact same.
the bs with you has nothing to do with me wishing harm on people, thats ridiculous.. hell i didnt even start it. you did. u called me out jumping on the "i hate kane" bandwagon. last time i spoke to u direct i wished you luck on your stupid documentary then you put me on blast.
well then dont get upset for me calling it like i saw it. you were a horrible fake *** documentarian. hell you wouldnt SHUT UP long enough to film anyones opinions. how are u going to make a video about "the life of a stunter" if the whole time you were there, you were so fuked up drunk, stoned, and just trying to party (by your own admission, u said your husbands away so all u planned on doing was getting fukin hammmered the whole time) and u did. 4 tapes in 3 weeks. and u call me a fool.
i type a lot sorry
when i tell someone "i am a stuntrider" i can show them about 60 magazines, posters, videos, trophyies and photos of me doing stunt riding.
next time you wanna tell someone your a videographer, or a documentarian or a journalist... maybe.. you should try to have something to show for it.
'cause u lost my respect, and every other rider i can think of's respect... the second we found out you were a phony.
we deal with fakes like you all the time, our time is short in this sport, and the work is overwhelming, we dont have time to waste on over-aged hippy groupies. we do have time for hard working proffessionals who actually try their hardest to accomplish something.
when you become that. call me.. otherwise. stop wasting everyones time
