Re: Sponsors v.s Skills!!
There is no relation in any equation that should compare skill to sponsorship. It's all about talking your way through it. I recieve a $5,000 sponsorship per year and my wheelies are garbage and I've never done a show in my life.
Most buisness owners wouldn't know the differnece between a squid and o.g. they just think the ***** cool, and they get their name out regardless.

i have to say the reason you see that is, the companies are looking for someone that is easy to market. Why would they want to market someone that has the skills but has no personality (that is not an attack on anyone). Companies are looking for a person that hypes crowds and helps to sell their product. They want a rider that is gonna sign autographs, have fun at shows and generally be nice to people. Also look at it this way, Kane comes to your door with a professional proposal, is established and has a list of shows and events that he is or has competed in. Or do you spend a bunch of money researching riders to find the best one out there, but turns out the best rider in the world can't talk to people or has no expierience doing show or comps. Lets face it, there are kids all over the U.S that are parking lot heros that never go anywhere because they simply cannot market themselves. There is a reason that Kane, Britton, Adrenaline crew and various others are doing better than everyone else, they are better at marketing. While it is very frusterating that great riders aren't getting noticed, but whos fault is that?? Its not kanes Fault that he can talk like a mad man, hes working just as hard or harder than the guys that are murdering ****. All in all i think it comes down too that its a bussiness and unknown riders are a risk. Why would you spend your money on a risk when there is something with less of a risk that has a better return on it........i know it sucks but all those good underatted riders out there should take a minute to send out sponsor proposals instead of sitting on stuntlife and or the couch. Everyone controls their own destiny in this sport and its like everything else, if you want it bad enough you are gonna have to work you *** off for it.................
let the bashing begin as i will be on Microsoft Word retyping my resume so i can be a crappy rider with my own sweet list of sponsors..............
Watch out for me in 2007.............hahahaha

Re: Sponsors v.s Skills!!
I don't have time to read all this bs because I need to run off to work. But I will say this...
Sponsors look for impact, a return on their investment.
Sponsors don't look for parking lots and other riders approval or rider credit.
It's not skills it's outreach, its not contests its shows, if its not shows its contests, its not how good but how much they like you and your look. You're just the face of a company that doesn't know the difference between a circle, coaster, or handstand, just that they like the handstand more. In our sport sponsors don't pay the bills for all but a couple riders, so at this point who cares? What the **** is a sponsor to a stunt rider at this point? Until we're talking about Pepsi and Ford its not worth our time thinking about it. And when that time comes we won't be discussing this **** on an open forum.

We want to support as many riders as we can at the level they need, we don't want to go under at the same time, so we know what we can give and how many spots for each type rider. Like I said we do have spots open all it takes is a phone call, email ect. and it can be under way. Also the one rider that gets the parts at cost is/was super happy with it and is all he wanted to be honest.
Thanks and again just my 2 cents from the sponsor side of things..

Whoa calm down there pinky I simply stated that there are much better riders out there that dont get sponsors. And then there is the D'mans etc that dont do jack ****!! I'll admit you do rep your sponsors and get them out there but after watching some videos of your riding I was shocked! Damn near everytime you tried a circle you could only do like 1-2, **** I was better than that 2 years ago. And ya somehow you did a fast stoppie but the **** I was watching was a joke, your **** is like 2 feet off the ground man. All I'm saying is if you want to have all these sponsors then polish up your riding cause you are way way way, turn around and look in the rearview way way back there!! You dont know the balance point, your circles are 2003, ya you can move around the bike but you dont make the bike move around there is a big difference! And I'm not hating on you buddy do your thing and I'll do mine, just cause were cool dont mean I cant bash you anymore dont take it personal! Now get back to picking up chicks instead of practicing the 180 stoppies you said you could do!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGApWZNA1Uo
