Re: Industry Standard
sanctioning bodies could be good but at the same time they can be bad. the latter is the reason i don't compete in snowboarding anymore. but typically if it's set up to where you compete for a payout and have qualified to do such then you are a pro that way amatures can quallify for a shot. but then you have to look into regions divisions and crap like that. it's definately dooable but some one with some money is going to have to step up to the plate

You have innate talent. I can see it.
Teach has more though.

Re: Industry Standard
This does not have to be complicated...
There are only a hand full of recognized events, XDL, Stuntwars, Psychofes, Starboys, ect....If a rider competing and places winning cash....= Pro
The list from the previous thread is good and many old school riders should be added as PRO'S Like Matt Gorka...Thew, Digity, Woods, the list goes on...
Simple
Pro = Paid $$$$$ in Competition Not some local shows!
Amatur = NOT
Just my Opinion!

Re: Industry Standard
I think the old schoolers who don't want to compete anymore should at the very least be begged to be judges. And treated like minor deities.
For those who are frustrated and think "there's no way to pull off organization at this level" I hope you rethink it, and do whatever you can to help the process along. Just because it's been disorganized for a long time doesn't mean it can't be completely organized fairly quickly. It's be great to see everyone encouraging Thomas and all the other organizers/promoters.
Industires come together and expand their capabilities all the time. It's so exciting to watch happening.

Re: Industry Standard
Like everything else there are major pros and cons, and people who would benefit and those who dont from making the sport into a sanctioned style body. I guess the disadvantage would be that the points would be based on scoring at shows. So you got a bad *** stunter who can rip it up, but unfortunately does not have alot of $, and lacks the promotional skills of people such as Kane in order to pull in sponsers, so they cant make it to all the shows. Now they are considered not pro, yet can kick *** when on their bike. I know arguments can be made very easy on that, but I like things the way they are where everyone is kinda judged by their rep and what they have shown and earn respect that way. Yet if your looking at trying to get us into events such as X-Games then you gotta have some type of organization and people to govern it who know the sport and have promotional skills to get things accomplished. Okay nuff rambling, PT has me learning to walk again now and so I have plenty of Vicoden in my system, so time to shut up =)
