Is The primary consideration placement in competitions or are there other factors. If there are other factors, what are they?
I'm feeling curious today.

Re: Pro or AM, which are you??

what ever happened to you have to compete in "x" amount of comps as an am to even be able to compete at a pro level unless you get first place in am and you are then able to compete at the pro level right away. I think you should have to work your way up. I also don't like when people sandbag though. People that compete at an am level just so they can smoke the class all the time and win prizes and stuff.

what do you think guy?

There are ALOT of people out there that can do every trick, and alot of them arent pros. If a few of them enter Am, now its a good competition.
The bar for ametuers is rising faster than the bar for pros.

Re: Pro or AM, which are you??

Skip ameteur competitions. You'll always have sand-baggers f-ing up the whole point of an ameteur competition. Unless it's invite only. Then the organizers can put people where they want.

Re: Pro or AM, which are you??

Thats a pretty difficult question, i always thought that if you recieve any kind of money ie sponsors, winnings etc.etc. that it made you pro, i believe the definition of a pro is someone who is paid, where as an amature is someone that doesn't recieve any money..........regardless of that, i will still run pro no matter what, to me its better to try really hard and feel good about placing top 15 or 20 with the worlds best riders, that feels way better than sandbagging and playing dodgeball with the 8th graders...........

Re: Pro or AM, which are you??

This is an interesting question because we have nothing to back it on. But once you compete pro in an event and win anything there is no turning back. Its disrespectful to all the true amateurs out there to sandbag, and to ones self to not face those who may be better. I didn't want to compete as a pro, nor did I think I was ready, but my first contest I was told I must and that was it. At that point I was fubar when it came to AM status. Compete, win money, stuck as pro.

In our disorganized sport it can be simple, think you're pro, enter an event and place in the top 10 and you're in.

Think you're an Am, enter an event and crush everyone then you should move up without question and not look back.

Re: Pro or AM, which are you??

I think the top 10 riders of the XDL finals should vote on who is pro and who is am., keeping in mind that once you make someone "pro", they can never ride am again. You will always have 5-7 of the XDL folks at any given major stunt competetion and since no one geographic area, click, or alliance will be represented, it will be a fair judgement. It will take a year to get everyone sorted out for the most part, but I think it is a good system, and the 10 ten riders will change every year.

Re: Pro or AM, which are you??

i would obviously start in the ameature ranks and be talked about as the next worthy competition in the pro ranks, the exposure would be very satisfying and money and prizes would be icing on the cake!
so i'd start ameature then go pro in like 1-2 years
