How much Different (636)

Ok so how much different are the 03-04 and the 05-06 636,, i know the gas tank sucks on the newer bike but is it still a champ to stunt, and basically the same bike or is it a totally different feel ?

Re: How much Different (636)

my friend has a 05 and i have the 03... both are awsome bikes. they feel alot different but both are strong as hell. the bodywork on the 05 seems more brittle but if you get the 905 stay and a good cage its a solid bike. 05= way smooth. plus it has a wide tail section so the tail cradles your *** in sitdowns. overall imo they are very different feeling but both are great bikes to stunt. did you get another one locked up?

Re: How much Different (636)

i normally dent the tank pretty far back anyways.. is it possible just to dent that half tank and not have to melt the plastic ?

Ask Wade from Section518 about his tank, he has an 06 636 and his tank is perfect...I think his member name is WADESEC518...

Glad to hear you made out all right with the truck scott!:YEAH

Whatever you decide on getting...you should get my boy JohhnyP to make you a stunt stay.....the thing is like no other! Canadians do make somethings better!

these stunt stays are bulletproof.......He made one for his 636 and now has made some for the F4i's. I got mine.....loving it to death!

Re: How much Different (636)

scary gary was riding an 05-06 in one of his clips, the metal part of the tank actually holds the fuel and the plastic is just the airbox cover, so the rear section has enough room do get a decent dent in it. You can see the line where the 2 split in the pic.

Re: How much Different (636)

They are nice... I rode a buddies 05 a while back and it felt great. It was stock/mint so I just did a few slow ones to feel it out, so if you got it setup the way you want then it'd be great... just fragile. I'd be paranoid of breaking stuff like frame, sub, etc... I rode the 03/4's too and liked them better. They felt more durable, but still a bit iffy. just get an f4i and strip it, you know you want to ride a streetfighter

you DONT have to melt the plastic at all!!!! i dont know anybody that sits on the front of the tank and thats where the plastic is.

the tank on the 05 06 is actually 100 times better than the 03 04 due to the fact that no matter how much you dent it, you will be able to pump gas full out without having to worry about the gas splashing all over like on the 03 04 style. it also goes farther on a tank of gas than the 03 04 when both tanks are dented

as far as the rest of the bike...
-i like the natural 12 bar (undertail exhaust) because ive always hated having a twelve bar, but when your learning HC O's with no 12 bar you tend to smash your tailight and tail every once and a while with out one.
-the tail section is sweet for sitdown no-handers or to put your foot.
-the front end kinda sucks compaired to the 03 04 for putting your legs over because its longer and wider so theres nothing for your legs to leverage on like the 03 04.
-sucks not being able to flip a lever to crank the idle up like the 03 04 but you get used to that if youve owned a gixxer which you have so your all set

all in all i like the look of the 05 06 better and it is a wicked smooth bike with a little more power than the 03 04 BUT, it does feel weaker if you like to throw the bike on the ground alot which i dont.
