Re: do you ever get scared?

i am scared of getting hurt and hurting my bike. last time i got hit on the bike, after everything was done, it took me about 4 to 5 years to be able to save up for a bike again. plus doesnt it make it cooler if you are scared and can still do it? i think so.

Re: do you ever get scared?

Fear drives some people to do their best. For me the constant reminder of my mom wanting to show me pics of bikers who died riding makes me wanna ride even more. The way I see it, If your are to die today then you will regardless of on a bike or in a car, walking, etc. So just do what makes you happy and deal with the probs as they arise, instead of dwelling on them when they are not there.

Re: do you ever get scared?

Yeah I am never really scared when I am on the bike. Its usually after I get home and my Boy comes running up to hug me. Or just thinking about what could happen. Its definetly life! Ive always had a saying when people come up to me and ask me why I ride like I ride. They always say " do you wanna die?" I say "no I ride like I ride cause i wanna live!"

I'll get a break off of riding in winter like usual. I will admit I do get pissed when I do a real sweet long wheelie and i sit it down and dont even get a rush anymore.

You know whats even crazier is the fact that i even wreck in my dreams. I love ridin, and i dont plan on quitting any time soon, I just wanted to see what everyone else thinks about it.

I agree if you have a traffic jam on the other side of the road its time to perform. I was doing a staggered stand up by the way. good thread!

I personally learned a few years ago that you can't just pu55y foot through life and worry about dieing. I used to be sorta scared to paddle out to go surfing when I first started cause of sharks but I was like you can't just run from those things and just not get in the water period like I know people to do. You can walk out to get your mail and die. **** this guy here other day just got here and was hit in the neck by a stray bullet..**** happpens might as well laugh at death than be afraid. I was walking to the gym earlier this week and mortar went off about 1/4 to 1/2 next to the trailers outside the walls which issued small arms fire.I thought oh might be some stray bullets coming by since one went through a trailer couple weeks ago and was a little timid but then I'm thinking WTF if I get it it's time to go anyhow so I just walked out in the open as I normally would. You only have one life and you might as well live it as you see fit.

Re: do you ever get scared?

If you aint scared you aint pushin hard enough end of story!!! I dont really stunt to show off its more just for me, and another challenge. I have done many things and I am usually better at most of them than my friends that are doing the same things. I started off on a skateboard, then did bmx, then I was in many rock bands, then i got into drag racing, now bikes. I still skateboard and snowboard, I still rock tricks on a bmx when I get to ride a buddys, I still drag race, and I still stunt, but mostly i just stunt, usually on back roads where no one sees me.

I think my problem is the fact that I really dont have any competition around me. Ive won drag races, skateboarding comps (street not vert) Ive won some battle of the bands, never won any bmx stuff. ive won car shows, and I have come close to winning a stunt comp ( but everyone else sucked) well exept the dude who beat me. I always stunt alone, and Ive lucked out on some crashes too!

the reason i say all of this is to say that I am bored and lonely, and when I am not working or stunting I am on the computer talking about working or stunting. Yeah Im married (shes on her computer Im ing) The kids asleep. I need someone to stunt with I am sick of being the best at everything, heck I cant even find a worthy opponent to play halo with anymore and its getting boring. Sure i get scared but it wouldnt be much fun without the rush, and every squid would be doing it. I really just wanted to have some others insight to it.

Some said take a break, others wanted to be hard and say theyve never gotten scared ( liars you know when that wheel first came off the ground a quarter of an inch you were scared!) Some just wanted to try to be internet tough and say " well then quit stuntin you *****" (they only had a couple posts, and i think one of them had an 06 gixxer sixxer so I am not takin that too seriously) Some though said rock it until you go, and live the love, and thats why this palce is called stunt LIFE. PEACE!

I can't help but disagree with this.....

If I never stopped being scared I would still be riding on two wheels. I would have never ridin a wheelie, EVER! The only way I push myself is to stop, think to myself....(Dont be such a p*ssy!!!) The fear factor goes away, then I give it hell! Almost any of the **** we do is all mental! Not so much physical, but mental. Next time you go to the spot or hit the street, before you ride do this. Take a minute, look at your bike... Think to yourself (your a machine, you will do what I want you to do!) then go try that new stunt or trick or whatever it is that's slowing you down and I guarantee it will come easier. Atleast it does for me.....

So I am workin and I think to myself when is good good enough? How much farther of a wheelie do I really need to prove to myself? How bad do I need to hurt myself before I am happy with stuntin. Dont get it twisted I aint quittin. I know I could never quit stuntin. I love it too much, plus I need to get the slow stuff down. I also know I will prolly never make any money at this. And the biggest haunting thought is that I screw up and kill myself.

I have heard of people quitting for a bit and then coming back. I am just wondering if any of you have ever felt like this?
i hurt myself all the time last night I lowsided a fast circle and the cage landed on my foot, popping tendons off the bone (again).I hop back on everytime even though stunting has put me in serious debt.

i don't get scared a little anxious maybe....but when i can't do something i get angry and that usually overcomes any other feelings/thoughts i might have.

Re: do you ever get scared?

I think I'm more scared of being in a wheelchair than being dead. I mean i think about how my parents, girlfriend, and friends would react if i died, but i am more scared about rolling around in a wheelchair for the next sixty years of my life just because i looped a wheelie in traffic and the person behind me runs me over or however it happens. And if anyone says "I don't care about being in a wheelchair that does not scare me." Then your dumb. On a lighter note i will never stop riding either only a small percent of people in my opinion can get on a bike rock a wheelie a little while after they have it, and not ever ride again.

I get scared of becoming paralyzed. I'm very fortunate though because I've had some scary accidents on the freeway and I'm still alive. I still ride hard though because I love this ****!!
