No one NEEDS steel lines.. but if you've got some extra money laying around and they will help out, then why not? Makes your brakes stronger, more consistent, etc....
When your pads start getting worn you change them for ones that will work better.. when your fluid goes bad you change it so your brakes work better... So why not change your lines for ones that work better?

braided lines are so different than rubber one's...if you can find a bike just like yours with braided lines on it ,RIDE IT this will give you all the comparison you need
