unconsistant gsxr idle

Is it me or do gsxr's have an unconsistant idle. I have an 04 600 and it doesnt seem to have a strong hold on the idle. I usually rock it on 3500 if it helps any...

Yep.... Same thing here.. It's got to be something with the F.I. on it.. never seen any other bikes act like they do.

Re: unconsistant gsxr idle

Yeah one of our guys put together an 04 gsxr600 stuntbike. Was setup perfect but the damn idle was *****. never seemed to be consistent and you were always hunting for the right spot..Faster stuff it was fine, but any idle stuff was terrible...Spent alot of time trying to fix the problem, different throttle bodies, thought maybe the rear caliper was sticking..But nothing worked. In the end we threw a 04 gsxr750 motor in there. Conversion was a joke ! Since then the bike has run like a champ.

Good luck with the issue.

Cheers

Re: unconsistant gsxr idle

The 03 was the older style. The 04's were the new model / engine etc.

Cheers

Re: unconsistant gsxr idle

Anyone heard of the term when buying a new bike or car, "getting a lemon."

Mine works fine, and my buddy has an 04 that runs good too.. Next time you go buy a bike bring an idle cable with you and test the idle to make sure you didn't get a lemon..

Re: unconsistant gsxr idle

Have you messed with the throttle position sensor or TPS? My TLR had a funky idle until I adjusted that and I'm sure the Gixxers have it too. Some came adjusted right from the factory and some didn't. I would check on gixxer.com. It was an easy fix on the TL and I'm sure its the same on GSXR's. If it works you will thank me later.

Thats it bro.... All I have on mine is a 4 inch piece of 5/16 hose and a bolt in the end of it. I am SF right now so it just stays tucked in next to my stator cover and I can reach down and adjust anytime.:YEAH

Re: unconsistant gsxr idle

my 929 did that really bad, my gixxer is doing it also, but not near as bad. idles at 3500 until i start rocking the brake then it drops down to about 2500 or so and doesn't pull very hard. i've snyced everything so who knows.

NOT TO SOUND LIKE AN *** BUT WHATS A BULY, AND I SHOULD USE 5/16 AUTOMOTIVE HOSE THATS IT, THE HOSE DOESNT TWIST UP OR ANYTHING.

Re: unconsistant gsxr idle

it could also be that you are missing a spring.
when i hooked up the idle cable to mine i took the spring out so the **** is easier to turn and i dont have any problems, but this may be something for you to take a look at.

D**m typo... sorry edited now.. It's just hose slid over the idle adjustment screw and I put a bolt in the other end of the hose so it's a lil more solid where you grab it and eaiser to reach for with gloves on. No it doesn't twist up at all.. That idle adj. screw is easy to adjust with a finger and 5/16 auto hose has braiding inside of it.. very hard to twist.. just like fuel line
