I will post up some pics of the steel square tube sub after I am through with it. Oh yeah and I drilled the mounts out in my frame and took a steel round tube that is tapped for threads from on side to the other. You can only do this on the front mount the back one I put the same steel bar on it about 3 inches, almost touching the shock and welded it to the front bar with stell 1/4 plate. It kind of ties on side of the frame to the other and hopefully will keep it from brakeing tabs with my new steel subframe!:YEAH
Dont get too nuts bro! I would like to see pics though. SOUNDS INTERESTING!

Re: SI Round Bar VS. FI

ya, just don't build that subframe too strong or you'll be breaking the mounting tabs on the frame

Well I just got in from the garage and I will take some pics later this week and post up on my frame mod to strengthen the frame. Seems like a real good idea it ties one side to the other. My bro come by and got the subframe he is going to plate the inside of it with alum for me too so I am going to try that with the frame mod and rearset mod for now. If it breaks again I am def. going to steel and then I will have my frame mod done in alum and welded in place in the frame rather than just bolted in. I just hate to have to take the whole bike to the welder and I don't have a tig yet.

lol.maybe but I hit it hard a few times and did long scrapes on round bar.the reason it normaly brake is cuz of normal square bar, when u crash on side it twists it,no problem with round one.and all bars r the same, get one u can get best deal on.it;s just peace of steal....

Same here, have a SI round bar on my gxsr 04 600 and its great, no prob here. Put a gxsr 1000 sub frame on it, thats what I've got and much stronger.

The 03 04 gsxr sub frame. Is it really esential when running a round bar to beef up or swap it out? Like I said before and Artiom said a few posts back the only time I ever broke my stock one was when it took a lateral hit, from a highside (once) or catching a corner circling (twice). So that 3 brakes. None of which where from scraping straight...

If your not gorilla scraping it or hitting it hard you shouldn't have a problem with breaking them, as long as the bolts are always tight, renforce it a little, some steel straps from the passenger pegs to the rearset bolts is easy and cheap. Also, the round bar like Art said obviously won't hit the corners like a flat bar and twist and crack your sh*t..

The ones who are saying they're breaking them on her, are hitting them too hard, and they aren't reienforced correctly...

Do 1 square toob and weld to attach the two sides togeather.. Weld and aluminum plate running along both insides of the subframe.. Bolt support straps from psgr pegs to rearsets.. Beef up or fill in the back side of the tabs with weld.
