Re: what's the best hb master cylinder?

I took the stock radial off of my gixxer and used it for the handbrake and used a honda master off of an f4i for my front brakes

everyone raves about the brembo. it's expensive but seems to be the hottness. My buddy Evil can scrape hc on idle and come down with no probs.

Re: what's the best hb master cylinder?

I am using a radial Ducati/Aprilia brembo clutch master and it is amazing (comes stock on those bikes). Got the matching one on the other side for the front brakes too... I actually had to cut down the push-pin 2mm because it was too good. It came off a 999 so I had to convert it to use a remote reservoir, but it's easy if you just use a rear ducati MC reservoir inlet. The aprilias are already remote. That and a line fitting on a stock MC with a hoseclamp.

+ from what I hear brembo 16x18 is best... or PVM... if you got $

Re: what's the best hb master cylinder?

Is there a diff between the brembo radial 16x18 clutch master and a front brake master?

Re: what's the best hb master cylinder?

I had a normal 14mm master, it was ****... Now I have the brembo 16x18 which is much better, but still not good enough imo...

Cause I have a rear caliper with only one piston in the back, I will need a HB master with a smaller bore... I now have the 16mm brembo radial, and will need the 13mm KTM Superduke clutchmaster...

Then, probably, it will rock the sh*t out of my current set-up :YEAH

Owh BTW, Chris Pheiffer is using that 13mm also, he also says it rocks...

(or another thing that's worth to try, is to mount a better rear caliper... With 2 or more pistons... A friend of mine took a rear caliper from a R1, and said it it "the HOTNESS" ! so maybe I give it a go, so I can keep the brembo 16mm...)

HELL NO

it depends on the combination from the rear caliper and the size of the handbrake master...

The more calipers and pistons you have, the bigger size you need for you're handbrake...

People are using 1000rr masters for they're HB's, but it's a 20mm master, and it's build for 2 calipers, with each 4 pistons I think... No bike has that for a rear brake...

So best would be to use a much smaller HB master...A master that is made for 1 caliper, with only 1 or 2 pistons... Such as the brembo 16x18 (still made for 1 or 2 calipers) or a clutch master with a size of 13 or 15mm. People that are telling they're HB's from 20mm or 18mm are great probably won't be lying, but probably it can get much better with just a smaller HB...

This is what I found out...

Bigger bore means more feel but less stopping power.

Re: what's the best hb master cylinder?

if you want the best stopping power in a master cylinder, get one with a small bore, long lever, and a short distance between the pivot and the cylinder.

I also don't agree on that... It simply can't be said, that a type of master is good for every set-up... It depends on the rear caliper, braking lines, etc.

And a bigger bore means that it will push a larger amount of fluid through the braking line's with less travel of you're lever...

For example, if you take a 20mm front master, and put it on a single piston rear caliper, the HB master will feel hard as H ELL, and can't be pushed cause it's sooo hard... That's just not good...

A real small HB master (like 13mm) on a 2 piston rear caliper wouldn't be good also, cause then the pressure is soft, and when you pull in the lever all the way, you still couldn't brake hard anough to lock the rear wheel...

These are just examples, and like I said, it depends on many things if you're HB has the best pressure/braking power ratio...
