Need good replacement clip-on bars?

Im running FI clipons and Vortex replacement bars becasue thats the only thing any local shops stock, problem is Vortex bars **** *** They are so weak they bent every time I drop the bike. So does anyone know of a good brand of replacement bars for clipons? Something I can order online hopefully?

Kane said something about solid metal tubes a while ago. I feel your pain of the bending aluminum ones though.

The ones that came with the FI clipons were good, its just these crap Vortex ones they bend so easily.....Solid would be a little too strong IMO

Re: Need good replacement clip-on bars?

I keep a spare on stock because I bend them so much. Everytime i bend one, i replace it and order another the next day. I would be afraid of anything too strong, the mount would probably crack then??

Re: Need good replacement clip-on bars?

Stupid question here, but I thought once you buy the aftermarket assemblys you can simply buy and cut the tubing yourself..not true ?

Cheers

This is what I was talking about. Then it would be real easy to buy some stock tubing and do it yourself.

Cheers

I could do that but Id have to buy alot of solid 7/8 round bar and have them cut to length then hollowed out( I dont think I can find 7/8 tube with a thick enough wall).....Its not the cost or the avialbiltiy thats the problem, its that the Vortex are weaker than what I had. The ones that came with the FI's were good and lasted me pretty good, Ive only been using the Vortex for about a month and Ive laready bent 4 of em.....They are weaker

I just cant stand having to change them all the time and set up my levers again and again.....Give me atleast a few crashes not everytime I drop the thing...

Re: Need good replacement clip-on bars?

Gotcha, I seen those clipons and thought it woudl be easy to go down to the Metal Superstore and find the right thickness tubing...But I am by no means in the know when it comes to metal..

I was pumped to by these clipons

Cheers

Oh dont get me wrong clipons are the ****, I wouldnt waste a dime on stock clipons.....Im just looking for something better then the Vortex bars, something that will take 2 or 3 drops before they bend....Ive had ProTec, Harris, FI, and some other aftermarket clipons and they all seemed to have stronger bars then what Vortex sells.....

I'll have to check with my metal supplier to see if they actually carry anything 7/8 dia with a thick wall(min .120 wall) in 6061 aluminum......I know for sure I can get 7/8 X .120 wall but Im not sure if its 6061.....

Re: Need good replacement clip-on bars?

I checked into just ordering a long bar, no one near me stocked or was willing to get me that thickness unless I ordered a truck full, and for that matter i wasnt sure it would be any stronger. Keep us informed on these clip ons, I have a running account at the recycle place for aluminum due to how many Ive bent!!

Re: Need good replacement clip-on bars?

FI sells the tubes as replacements for a good price from what I understand. I'd go through them.

After waiting over a month for my clipons from FI then having them finally arrive in a raw finish (unfinished bare aluminum).......I'll have to pass on those, FI can F-off.....The least they could have done is discounted them considering I payed for a finished product but got something unfinished
