there will ALWAYS be someone to step it, do something amazing nuts, and some will follow and some won't.
what, you think 10 years everyone was like "yeah and we'll all be doing no handed highchiar circles"
they weren't even thought of as possible, and now you've got guys doing no handed highchiars, and no handed highchair circles.

Re: This sport aint going to the X-Games....
I could see the sport making it to the X-Games, but I think it will take a bit longer.
There are plenty of riders out there who definatly have the skills, but there needs to be an "in", kind of something to hook them. Not to bring up a sore subject, but the confrontations between Darius and Kane are one of the things that might work...seemed to help WWE!! Even if it's just play acting or whatever, it gets the crowds attention, and makes it like a guys soap opera. Even worked for the Monster Truck crowd.
Guys like Thomas Evans and Drew Stone are doing a lot to promote the sport. Now that it is running alongside XDL, it will get more mainstream. Whenever someone does a show at a drag strip or an arena with the MX boys, it gets out there a bit more. It is hard to do a show in a big arena like some of you do, because much of the crowd can't really see how technical the sport is. X-Games could really blow it out because of the close-ups with the TV coverage.
I would like the sport to get bigger, then the guys that have worked so hard to get their game right could get the recognition they deserve. Keep it up, it will get there!

Re: This sport aint going to the X-Games....
I've had about a hundred different views on this, but this is the reality: I think putting this in the X-games is like putting us on a chopping block. 2 reasons and think about them before you flame them. I'm taking my emotions and love for this sport out of my post and focusing on some observations I've made over the years:
1. Consistency. There aren't enough riders who could put together a near flawless, jaw dropping run to split the wigs of the expectations of those at the x-games. Sorry, but hit or miss runs are usually not seen in the x games.... But are in our sport. The X games is in it's 12th year and the runs in EVERY category are performed with a level beyond most of what us who claim to be "professionals" are capable of. Even today our top "pros" choke at events. We spend too much time in parking lots working on who can do the most highchair circles and now, just about every rider is on the same level because variation is only a commodity of just a handful of riders today. What happened to the well rounded rider? How would you choose the first 10 riders for the x games? By popularity or name recognition? I don't feel there are 10 riders who absolutely stand out amongst the rest without a shadow of a doubt and could solidify our slot in the future years....Just my opinion. I feel that you could mix 100 names in a box and pick 10 and fill the spot with riders who are on par with each other. X-games has freaks of nature. Innovators and people who will push the envelope year after year. Most of us don't have exceptional mentalities or push beyond the limits which is what it takes to keep a sport like this coming back year after year. The double backflip takes a level of nutz and determination that is far beyond what most riders today have. Until we have those riders in our sport, it will be what it will be.
2. Our sport is cool, but lacks excitement. It's like a McDonald's happy meal toy. Cool for about an hour. I watched Travis last night and actually said a prayer for the kid before he went. My heart was pounding with excitement. I've never felt that watching anything anybody has done in our sport. Sorry.
We have what it takes to make this sport HUGE, by participation and involvement. Like a cult. But spectator-wise, it's going to need some major improvements. We have the ability to have more participants in what we do than any other sport because everybody has access to the tools it takes and a street out in front of their house, so for that sake THIS WILL ONLY GET BIGGER. I feel that it will only continue to grow.To focus on X games being the deciding factor of the success of stuntriding I think is a bit far-fetched and having high expectations usually yields disappointment. It is what it is and should be approached differently. Let X games be. We don't need it to get bigger than anybody ever expected it would. Like I said before, there is no stopping this. It's spreading like a disease. I don't drive down the road and see dirtbikes on the back of trailers with cutouts behind the seats for superman seat grabs, but I do see blown out tail sections and crash cages. It's only going to get bigger. Trust me.

another thing about crowds...american crowds have too much ego, they sit there and they might hollar and shout every now and then, but for the most part theyre sitting there talking about how easy it is, or how their cousin can do it with no shoes on...if you watch any footage from Europe those guys get alllll into it, having fun, clowning around...its just so different over there, people just have anomosity towards streetbikes...maybe theyre gf got fvcked by a rider or theyre pet iguana got run over, but whatever they got goin on over in Europe...thats what we need.

Curling is in the olympics. yeah. the guys who toss the puck and the other two homos who sweep the ice to make the puck get there faster.

be patient. It will get there. DO your part, and dont *****. a combined effort is what its gonna take..not a "lets see whos cack is bigger" competition..

Re: This sport aint going to the X-Games....
Stunting could get to the x games.Look at most of the people who watch x games its kids.Kids love sportbikes and seeing stunts.I remember the first time i saw a guy doin a wheelie down the interstate i was flipping out.Even adults like seeing it as long as your not doing it at 120 down the interstate. I went to a monster truck show here and they had a couple guys doin stunts and everyone in there was going crazy and they really didnt do much they did a couple wheelies burnouts h/c and stoppies.I'm not saying it needs to go to the X games but it could get there.I think it would be cool in ways and also bad in ways but if it does or doesnt i'm not worried about it.just my

nice 5,580th post. thanks for stressing the second word on this site, and if you don't get that i'll spell it for you Stunt"LIFE".
I hardly ever say anything but I knew when Roman got in early that Darius was coming soon. That was the most predictable thing I've seen in a while.
Roman come on really, no bs, have you ever seen anyone else stunt in real life? Or is Darius the first and you just happen to live in the Yay.
Only reason is b/c I used to be there and think the same, now I've been lots of places and see riders you've never heard of that can ride pretty dang good. But you'll always revert to "ya know Darius.....blah blah blah"
We know who the heck Darius is, we knew before you were here and after you're gone. Peace out.
Just like the internet, SL is 90% BS.
Kendall, great post. Sport is fun as hell.

+1... Darius is the most heard of name in stunt riding... ppl that dont even stunt, or know anything about it know of Darius, and SERVIN it UP... + the man has skills (not that others dont too) so dont hate on the man.
and if Darius came to a stunt event you can bet most of the spectators are there to see him ride, so move outta his way next time dawg! (J/k about that part)
