Ando - I care because I know the advantage of having them in a stoppie comp is ridiculous, and I'm looking for feedback for future competitions I host.

Theis, Mark, Debo, and others - I'm not *****in about what I feel it's what I know, and this really doesn't apply to me at all....I'm trying to state the obvious and am looking for opinions/ideas for future comps.......I'm not really concerned with the whole "Step up or get left behind" thing b/c I'm referencing stoppies only, and the last 20 shows I've done I haven't been able to roll over 300ft so I really don't need them....
.....
I rock full fairing and stock clip ons, so I personally would like a stoppie comp where it had 2 classes for db bars and clip ons. But I have also see some clip ons that look like db bars.. haha

Re: Dirtbike Bar stoppies = New Class

whoa!!! I'm not saying if you get dirtbike bars you will magically be able to roll nice stoppies...I'm saying from my stock bar setup to Franks DB setup the advantages are pick-up both speed and traction, upright position at the balance point, and the obvious increase in leverage

maybe I'm looking too far in the future, there aren't really enough riders in one region to separate classes....I feel something needs to be adjusted or atleast taken into consideration for the future of 'Streetbike Freestyle'

Just don't allow bikes that have dirtbike bars to compete.... They are no longer streetbikes......

You are hosting a Streetbike Competition right???

I always thought of it as a stunt comp
So what do you call a motorbike with a handbrake?

Re: Dirtbike Bar stoppies = New Class

Stoppie comps should be seperated by 600 class f4i, 636, gsxr 600 and a liter bike class... 929, 954, 1000's.

all of you *****ing about bars are riding caring about how you look and what the "crowd" thinks.........lol........ thats a joke....

Ride for thrill of it
Ride for the challenges
Ride to keep yourself out of the Local bar.
Ride to keep yourself from breaking into neihbors house.

F*ck the cute ****...just do what feels right..........

It depends on the rider. I stunt in the same parking lot as Anger Management. Jason rides with dirt bike bars and Rodney has clip-ons. Both ride stoppies as far as anybody I've seen.

Re: Dirtbike Bar stoppies = New Class

Give me bars anyday. The thing with stoppies is you can't fake the funk. No sprockets and handbrakes here to bring you back and compensate for garbage brake control. Brake control is brake control regardless of your setup. The advantage of the bars is the position it puts you in and the confidence you gain....so for that, we all know confidence=improvement in your riding. Plus, I think its an equalibrium thing. Clipons put you in a somewhat upside-down feeling position and you're always thinking about eating it when you're floating a long one....Unless you have long monkey arms, and then it's basically the same "natural" advantage as your average guy with db bars. Bottom line is if you're rocking the BP and you tap the brake, you're going to make out with the pavement whether you have stockers, race clip-ons, 0-Degree FI's or dirtbike bars. Stoppies to me will always be the last true measure of a man's testicular fortitude.....however you gotta do it. If you class comps segregating guys with bars with guys with clipons, you better do the same with handbrakes vs. no handbrakes.
Long stoppies look better with a fully-plasticated (like that, I just made it up) bike. Anything on a stock looking bike looks better, at least to me. But, if it's to pay the bills and win the cheese....GAME ON. Ride what you brought, and if you lose: Be a man at the comp and cry on the way home in the car.

...and if you're into rocking a stock setup, I HIGHLY recommend getting yourself a set of FI 0 Degree bars. Much more natural position than the stockers. And they're pretty...Because that's important too.

Re: Dirtbike Bar stoppies = New Class

I agree with you Rick...DB bars are a big advantage, and I've almost talked myself into switching a couple of times just for that fact, but I never could, I just prefer my sportbike to look like a sportbike I guess.

Re: Dirtbike Bar stoppies = New Class

i didnt like dirtbike bars, i couldnt hang off the bike like i could with stock clip ons, dirtbike bars pretty much force you to stay in your seat, when i did them my equilibrium was lower but could go pretty far cause my balance point was lower, i didnt have the super high stoppies but i was so far off the bike it didnt matter, the only gripe i ever had was people putting LEAD BALLAST WEIGHT on the bikes, i say you get strict on guyz doing that, to each his own i guess

Re: Dirtbike Bar stoppies = New Class

Would led be considered a advantage for stoppies?

There are no rules or regulations to this so called industry. But its time we start!!!!

There is nothing stating the diffrence between AAA and Pro......

Re: Dirtbike Bar stoppies = New Class

Although I still think that dirt bike bars belong on dirtbikes and I still give more props to those who rock full plastics, I don't think that there are enough of us at the comps to make classes.

Nothing stops you from having the same bike set up the same way as the guy that is beating you...
