Pros and Cons carbed bike?

Hey everyone, just bought a 98 zx6r off ebay that is going to be my first bike, i pick it up on thursday, and no its not stolen lol, i want to stunt it sense it is all ready kind of ugly (dented tank, home made cage, cracked tail, no mid fairings) anyways it has a extra rear wheel setup with a ok tire and 66t sprocket, extra tank, anyways i was thinking about making 1 tank nice and have a nice set of body work and a street set of body work, FI cage and eventually a 12 bar. Ok now my question is what are the pros (if any) and cons of a carborated bike for stunting?

I wouldn't really know i've never ridden a carbed but my guess that the throttle response isn't there.

Re: Pros and Cons carbed bike?

i have a 99 i like the bike a lot. if it's jetted right and has good plugs and what not it'll be one of the smoothest motors you'll ride. i rocked the streets with mine and never really tried the lots. it should work well in either setting. just get the forks valved better and have a really good front tire it's hard to roll stoppies on that thing cause the forks ****. the only things you'll miss from a fi bike are that you have to let the thing warm up and the throttle response won't be as crisp but that's a good running motor and it's not a huge diffrence

Re: Pros and Cons carbed bike?

ok thanks alot, the guy says it runs really good and smooth. I cant wait to get it too bad its going to be late when i get home and DMV wont be open to register it for the streets, i am going to get insurance tonight or tomarrow so i can just go to DMV and have it all good for the road...I would ride it home but i feel more conforitable if i hauled it home and practiced riding it in general on home terf lol

Re: Pros and Cons carbed bike?

My first bike was 96 zx6 and it was a great bike never did any slow stuff on it but I learned BP on it with no problems until I put a full muzzy system on it and a jet kit then it started acting weird when you would bring it way back

Re: Pros and Cons carbed bike?

i didn't read this thread but ill give a quick answer to the carb vs FI (pros and cons)

People used to say a pro of carb was the smoothness... however, with todays advances in FI, with multiple butterfly valves in the throttle bodies etc, FI is just as smooth from off throttle to on throttle

carbs have a lot of cons:
they flood at 12
they need cleaned
they require jetting changes for different pipes or even if you CUT OR DENT you pipe

If i had to choose between the two, i would DEF go FI everytime!!!

i know there is a big diference i thought you ment how to ride in general. i read a poll that went on for 3 years and it seems that its about even with the advances in r&d on the cages and cant go wrong either way... I think i want the FI, it looks nicer and the 905 i hear still has some fitment issues...
