i broke my l2 and l3, but before i was riding.....i was snowboarding and herniated a disc (along with a compression facture l4) at the same time....

my doctor said if i wanted to walk i should probably stop snowboarding.

i felt alright after about 6 weeks or so...

Re: Broken Baxk..............????????????

I got a burst fracture on my T8--it took a month to heal and i was out 12ing again. **** still gets sore so i went to the doc a few weeks ago and after a dozen x-rays and an MRI, they want to inject cement into my vertebra which means surgery time. I don't think about my back when i ride so it does'nt hurt.

i hit a car on the street at like 70 when i was 15 shattered my rib cage, collapsed both my lungs, and severely compressed 2 vertebres. hurt like no other. 10 times more painful than when i broke my femur. but after like 2 months i was like 100% - everytime i get an xray, the doctors are like what in the **** happened to u. lol.

Re: Broken Baxk..............????????????

thats teach for ya though...lol...

I looped a highchair and compressed my t7. so basically all my nerves and **** are getting pinched and the muscles are swollen...

My story, I was in denial... I went snowboarding a week after I wrecked.. and sure enough ate **** trying to do a 180... and landed on my back again... so when i got back home, I went to the doctors, got xrays.. they told me nothing was broken... so I decided to go to the chiropractors... they popped my back every day for a week... I didn't get relief at all.. so I went to a spine specialist cause my back wasn't getting better and everytime I rode my back felt so infamed, throbbing and made me fell dizzy, I was taking pain killers everytime, and this is two months later..

They took xrays again, and told me.. holy **** you've been doing all this **** on a fractured vertabre?? and your chiropractor was popping a fractured vertabre?? You really should've came to us first, its too late now.. and the vertabre is already healed.
long story short, they gave me shock therapy, and had me do a bunch of exercises... I INSTANTLY received relief...

Anyone that tells you, you need surgery?? PLEASE ASK THEM FOR PHYSICAL THERAPY FIRST!!!
there's nothing you can do.. except physical therapy... and I mean it!!!
They did a study on this **** too... bed rest doesn't even heal it...

find the right excerise/stretch positions, and do it everyday! It really works!
My back acts up every once and awhile... but only if I haven't stretched or excerised those muscles in awhile.
my accident happened in late Dec. so 6 months later... ha...

Re: Broken Baxk..............????????????

I severly compressed 1 vertebrea and had a hairline fracture in another one and I thought I was fine after a month then I was at work and when I was leaning over a car working on it I got a bad pain and I could barely walk. I ended up having alot of muscle spasms and pinched nerves. I ended up not being able to work or anything for 4months so just take it easy at first and you should be alright don't try to rush back into stuff its not worth it..

I dont know too much about backs but Im Learning!!!
My Lower back has been swollen for a week now. It seems better by the day but like today I was out working & It got all swelled up with fluid again!! I went a bit too high on a HC endo last weekend at infineon & my 12 bar hit me in my lower back. Its improving but its weird!! 12 bar went from being "flat" to being "U" shaped after it got done with my back!! And No I havent gone to the Doctor. Im sure there is some fractured something in there but once again it will have to heal on its own! + Im broke!!! LOL

I tried physical therapy it did'nt work well--When you compress a vertebra it loses its original height forever which means pain now, arthridis later which really sucks. I'm going ahead with a procedure called "Kyphoplasty" where they insert a needle into your vertebra, use a baloon to expand the bone and create a void, then fill the void with cement to bring back the original shape--its not a very invasive surgery and the heal time is short for back surgery (3-4 weeks) Now this is what my doctor told me after they prescribed me anti-inflammatory meds which did'nt do shiit.

Here's some really good info on Kyphoplasty check these out:

Re: Broken Baxk..............????????????

all injuries are different.. I just saw on the news.. and read about it.. that people with back problems should try physical therapy first... it works more than not...

in my case it worked.

I have enough scars as it is...

they too offered me the cement ****... I said I would try everything else before that... maybe when I am older I may need it...

but right now... I'll deal with the occasional pain.
