Dislocated Shoulder

I dislocated my shoulder last night riding. It's not extremely painful, and I have limited movement. It is back in socket now but feels like it could pop out easily.

Has anyone every riding almost right after doing this? How difficult was it to ride etc?

Re: Dislocated Shoulder

Let it heal up. Lift light weight straight out in front of you...lift from your waist to shoulder height. I find a 40 oz bottle to work well and help with pain.

Normally I would but I don't have much of an option for this weekend. I will do the 40oz lifting thing though, that's always a good idea.

Re: Dislocated Shoulder

Just be happy you didnt break it. i broke my shoulder and my collarbone in 1 wreck. It's HELL and it will never be the same. If you disslocated it i say just rest and take it easy untill it feels normal again.

I hear you, I broke the same collar bone twice two years ago, I didn't give it enough time to heal the first time and then WHAM. Broke it on a front tire wash.

Re: Dislocated Shoulder

It depands if it got back in place fast.. i have dislocated my shoulders 3 times..
1 time badly and had to go to the hospital, 3 nurses had to pull it back in place.
And then they tell you to relax your muscles when all 3 of them are pulling your arm haha

But anyways, that time everything streched up verry bad and i could not ride for a month and had to do fysiotherapy.

2 weeks ago i had my other shoulder displaced but managed to get it back in place by my self after a few minutes.
I stopped riding for 5 days and then i was back in buissines.. still a bit limited in the movement though.

But give it some time man.. if you dont let it heal enough chances are big you dislocated it again.

that one was hilarious...

but i have a problem with dislocated shoulders, I used to be a pitcher when i was younger and threw it out a couple times...still hurts every now and then, my best advice is rest a lot! and then work it out, DO NOT let your tendons get stretched only way to avoid it is to work it out little resistance like pool cardio...what you don't want to happen is have your tendons stretch and loosen, then you will be like me and prone to that s hit forever...
