I'd get used to it stock first..then go +8 to +12 if you've got bp and rear brake skills....I wouldn't go more than +15 for the street

no I haven't , and if you'll look, you'll see the first four words in my post were 'from what I've read...' I was looking to get a 929 as my next bike but I read so many posts and threads about 929 idle problems that I decided against it..surging, lack of power under 3k etc. etc. do a search, you'll come up with boatloads. obviously idle tricks can be done on a 929. all I said was it's not the best bike for that. if you're trying to say it is, that's let's give this guy the facts, not sugar coat everything because that's the type of bike you ride. I can understand why you'd get your knickers in a knot about someone pointing out the flaws in your pride and joy though

Re: thinking of getting a 929

a 929/954 has GOBBS and GOBBS of power down low and on idle (it pulls harder at 2400 than an f4i at 3500).... the only problem is w/ the idle adjustment itself.

if you've EVER gotten on a 929 you'd know it has INSTANT torque as soon as you crack the throttle.

Re: thinking of getting a 929

I'll take your word for it, I mean it is a litre bike, so you can't compare it to 600's. but I just read one where someone was comparing idle torque of a 929 to a 900 back to back and they said the 929 felt like a mouse, I'll see if I can dig it up

edit: having said that, I will also say that the 929 is a better all around stunt bike than a 900RR, being fuel injected, inverted forks, better brakes etc....all I was doing was pointing out that the 929 has idle problems...nuff said

Re: thinking of getting a 929

Not to sound like a jerk, but as a general rule it's better not to give advise on things you don't have first hand experience with.

As stated already the 929 has plenty of low end power, almost too much for people just starting out stunting, that's why their so twitchy. You really have to get throttle control down to be safe on one of these.

Just my 2 cents for anone considering one. Fun bike for sure though.

Re: thinking of getting a 929

yea more throttle response than you know what to do with... i HATED it for the slow stuff, 130 hp put to the ground instantly at 1k RPM if you looked at the throttle funny, it'll catch you off guard. Great on the highway/street

I'm not sugar coating anything because thats the bike i ride. You said your knowledge is from what you read, mine is from first hand expierience. And you don't seem to undestand what your reading because the 929 idle problems have nothing to do with power,it has to do with being able to adjust the idle. The bike will pull stock gear around on the idle at 2k,thats plenty of power under 3k is'nt it?You can't give somebody the facts on something you know nothing about.

Before i had the 929 i had a 900 and the 929 has more idle torque than the 900.However the 900 is way smoother on the throttle than the 929,each one does certain things better but they are both great stuntbikes.900rr is a hell of a fun bike to ride also.

I completely agree. and that is exactly why I put the disclaimer at the front of my post "from what I've read" and later on "going by that" meaning I was only going by what I have read.

the guy who started the thread is smart enough to know that every bike has it's strengths and weaknesses. He said he wanted to know the good things and the bad things. Nobody was telling him bad things though. everyone was just saying "929's Rule!" somebody had to play devils advocate. so fvckin sue me.

Paul does your bike have the exhaust valve / airbox flapper mods done? or have you ever ridden one that has that you can compare to a stock one? people may be getting these bikes not knowing they have these mods. atleast this guy is getting a better idea of what to expect from a 929, and I'm getting closer to 100 posts

Re: thinking of getting a 929

Patrick Stephens had his 929RR for awhile, and he seem to do them slows like nothing. I think its just a matter of compremising on things...One thing thats for sure is that the 929 is pretty damn durable...The thing that sucks is that since it was made just for like 3 years, parts can get just a lil more expensive. I hate to give mine up, but, I gotta admit, its one of the best bikes I have had.

Re: thinking of getting a 929

if you stunt already you will be happy with a 929, plenty of power, gears...2 down and 5 up in rear, also comes with a stoppie button on some models. If your learning, get an f4i. period, no contest, 636 what? good luck!
