Going Up 15

Re: Going Up 15
Different people have a different bag of tricks and different ways they do them and people benefit differently from a set of gears.
Monster gears-+15+
Pros- impossible to stall, great for learning circles, safer to learn spreaders/highchairs/SS. Lower overall speed=safer. Park 12s with no brake.
Cons-Very slow idle wheelies=less stability at very low speed-no handers harder. Not streetable. Twitchy, harder to learn on, people inevitably throttle chop when they learn, makes things harder.
Stock-pros- .. be the cool guy with stock gears.
cons- everything else.

we are running 51 tooth {chain conversions }on our Buell's "thats about stock or like +2" and have 70 tooth on the way dont know if I will like it, will have to see if not that **** is comming off and the 51 going back on had a 70 tooth on my R1 and loved it but got used to stock gearing on the buell now kind leery about going back to a big sprocket

oh yea, get your idle nice and low to take advantage of all the engine brake.
for a parking lot bike, its a great gearing. i love my +15
there oughta be a sprocket exchange program.. i wanna see how +7 feels... anyone wanna swap for a week

i dissagree with the no hander part.... i have a +17 on my 6rr and it took a minute to get use to but as far as no handers go, gearing doesnt make a difference. if anything, its easier with more gears cuase its harder to stall

Re: Going Up 15
I have a 62 and one down on an F4i and it is a little twitchy but it's easy to learn. Any wheelie needs to be past bp or you don't go far. Good thing is I never stall and if I break to hard the bike comes right back up. SS and no handers came real fast. Working on scraping hc's that's gonna take some time. With this gearing I would learn with a handbrake e-brake will prob bring you down but I went to far a few times. Lesson learned
