cause the 1000 got a redesign in 03 and didn't get the radial... then was just given a paint job for 04... but the 04 600/750 was all new and got the radial mount! the 05 and newer 1000's got the radial.
radial is not necessary in my book, but honestly its to each their own. i think you can make both work great.
